Nose pillow mask thick straps

Post by jerrydixon » Sun Jan 01, 2017 10:40 am

Does anyone have a nose pillow mask with a very narrow strap or a small round strap?

Those wide industrial strength straps really bother me and I have to keep pulling them away from my eyes. Seems like a very narrow strap would work just fine.

I have shopped around and cannot find any other than the standard wide straps. Help?

P10 is a very popular mask....I have not seen anyone else complain about the straps. You might try padacheek.com and find strap covers.

Your talking about the frame where the gray covers fit? The strap in the back is thin and would not be getting in your eyes. I haven't used this mask but for some people it has been their go to mask. It has no straps and is held in place with your mouth. There is an optional headgear if needed. https://www.cpap.com/productpage/tap-pa ... roved.html
A newer mask that some people are using is the Dreamwear which uses a cradle under the nose instead of the pillows. https://www.cpap.com/productpage/pr-dre ... -pack.html
I would look at all the masks on Cpap.com and see if you find one you would like to try. Some have free return insurance and shipping.

Ok, it is the frame I am talking about not the straps. I need a very narrow or round frame.

I see confusion between the N10 Nasal Mask (covers the nose) and the P10 Nasal PILLOW Mask, the most minimal mask I have ever used which sits just under the nose, with very this straps.

My nose pillow mask has straps (or frame) across the face that is 1/2" to 3/4" wide and I keep having to pull it away from my eyes and is very uncomfortable. Seems like 1/4" or less would be strong enough to keep it on. Does anyone have one that is thinner?

It sounds like you have the wrong size mask if the straps are covering your eyes...or......Try another mask.

How are you wearing the back mask straps.? I just use both of my back straps down low. I don't divide them with the top one higher. Never had a problem with the front getting in my eyes.

If you were to imagine what you are looking for and attempt to describe it, would it look anything like this?

If so, you will look in vain - a nasal cannula (the item shown) cannot possibly work for PAP therapy: it doesn't seal, it can't possibly maintain the pressure needed, it can't sustain the volume of air flow needed, et al, ad infinitum.

Would LOVE to have round face staps like that mounted on my CPAP's nose pillow fixture.

Be care what you wish for. If I understand your wishes, you would love to have that slender tube be the conduit for all the air you will have to breathe while sleeping - is that correct? The inner diameter of most cannulae is either 5 or 6 mm. Given at typical tidal volume for an adult is approximately .5 liter for each breath. With a breathing rate of 12-15 breaths per minute, you must expect to breathe in and out a half liter of air each 4 to 5 seconds. Do you really believe that slender tube can transfer air at that rate at the pressure needed to provide effective therapy? Look at that tube and compare it to the tube coming from the machine - do you really expect the volume of air being delivered by that larger tube can be constricted into 6mm tube without any loss at all? Have you ever seen what happens when a vessel is filled from a larger source than is available to empty it? Its what happens when a bathtub drain doesn't open fully or is clogged while being filled - it is often a disaster. The same term can be applied to the effect on a human being attempting to breathe through such a constricted source - a disaster.
