Water reservoir empty during sleep
Water reservoir empty during sleep
The water reservoir runs out of water during the night; I have to get out of bed to refill Water in the container. My nasal cavity is dry; because of the humidifier. Now I can't go back to Sleep. I believe this is a major problem with CPAP users.

If you'd give more info, like what machine you have, whether or not you use a heated hose, etc. we might be able to advise.

When it happens, it is a major problem. Most cpap users don't have this problem at all.KittyCat wrote:The water reservoir runs out of water during the night; I have to get out of bed to refill Water in the container. I use an external humidifier in tandem to the one in my machine. This solution is a little extreme but if changing the room humidity and / or the humidifier setting doesn't get you any relief, it might be something to think about.
This is what I use:

Here is my setup to solve this problem.

Re: Water reservoir empty during sleep
Most often this is due to a (large) leak. When more air flows thru the system it uses more water.KittyCat wrote:The water reservoir runs out of water during the night; I have to get out of bed to refill Water in the container. Are you using sleepyhead to check your data for excessive leaks?

Either your humidifier setting is too high and/or you're leaking your therapy air (and moisture) out of your mouth during the night if you're using a nasal mask.KittyCat wrote:The water reservoir runs out of water during the night; I have to get out of bed to refill Water in the container. The "major problem" with CPAP users is that they try to blame everything and everybody else.....and don't take control of their own therapy.
If you were monitoring your therapy with software, you'd have a good idea of what's happening.
If you don't have a data-capable machine and not using software, then you need to get one and start using software to monitor your therapy. It's that simple.
