No obstruction only Hypopnea

Post by JOEPAP » Wed Jan 04, 2017 11:07 pm

I been reading my results on Sleepy Head and I noticed that I don't have any obstruction but only Hypopnea. My pulmonary doctor prescribed a Resmed Autosense 10. I been struggling trying to get use it. My insurance is not covering the cost so I don't have anyone to talk to who is knowledgable. I want to know if this is the correct equipment I need to treat my Hypopnea or do I need something else.?

If you are reading Sleeyhead data from your machine, keep in mind that the hypopneas reported are residual events after treatment. It may be that a small tweak of your settings could resolve most of those remaining hypopneas. For anyone to be able to offer advice, more info is needed. It would be helpful to see some Sleepyhead reports. Are you having any specific issues using the treatment that we can help you with?

You are looking at treated apnea with Sleepyhead. Hypopneas are a 40 to 50 % reduction of airflow so your pressure may be keeping them from becoming obstructions. What model of Airsense 10 do you have? AutoSet, Elite, or CPAP (I hope not because not full data)?

What are your pressure on the auto setting? What AHI is shown? Your insurance would not be knowledgeable about sleep apnea. Download some of your sleepyhead charts.

An apnea is a complete obstruction, whereas a hypopnea is a partial obstruction.

What is your AHI?
