Sleeping long hours

Post by NR64 » Sun Dec 18, 2016 1:02 pm

I'm a newbie with having only two nights with my c-pap and I have found that I have been sleeping very long hours each night. I do not work outside of the home so I don't have a schedule but I am wondering if anyone else has had this happen.

You may REALLY need the extra sleep, and it is good you are getting into this so quickly.
Wait a bit--it is likely to settle down.

Yep. Pretty normal. You need to repay your "sleep debt".

On another issue, what is the exact model of machine you're using? The one in your profile is fully data-capable but the one you just listed in your post is not and collects no data other than hours used (compliance). Which one do you really have?

I sleep much longer on C-PAP but I don't sleep well on it. I've wondered why I sleep so long as well.

After the body has suffered the assault of sleep deprivation it can take a while to recover. After a degree of recovery your need for extended sleep should naturally decrease. In my case, I remember the exact day it happened. Woke up to the early morning sunshine, went and looked out the door, and for the first time time in years felt eager to join the day - a sense of awakening. (Not that I didn't have ups and downs after that.) That experience was delayed by getting off to an early start on CPAP with ineffective settings. Learning how to use my data to optimize my treatment jump started my recovery. Aside from machine settings and mask fitting etc which can affect the quality of sleep, if things don't improve in after a while, consider if medication side effect or other health issues might be at play. But cross that bridge if you get to it. You may never need to.
