CPAP speech communications

Post by MikeNZ » Fri Dec 16, 2016 9:49 pm

Hi I recently mentioned a humble device that facilitates speech through the tough plastic of a CPAP type mask. Here's the (missing) link. http://www.hispeak.co.nz
Included is the example of how it helped Josh who suffered with MND or ALS. Posted by Mike O'Kane.

I get the uses of the device, i don't get the use or need for XPAP. XPAP is for Sleep Apnea, Sleep doesn't require speech... If you require help to use or remove the mask, you need a call button and a support system. Jim

Before my brother passed away (Cystic Fibrosis patient) he had to use a bipap even when he wasnt sleeping. Even when he had visitors or talking with the doctor or nurses. A device like this would have been great in a situation like that or similar. Not all is for sleeping only

I would imagine that firefighters use a small mike inside their masks, and linked to their walkies.
