PR-500T12 is the dsx?

Post by tripman » Thu Dec 15, 2016 6:30 am

The store near me has the PR-500T12 as model is this the same as the dreamstation dsx? I've been google searching the model they list and can't find it anywhere but the store. Also what are the thoughts on the airsense 10 vs the PR-500T12. Is there any differences?

Here are the correct model numbers - http://www.usa.philips.com/healthcare/p ... apy-system

If it were me, I would make sure to get the DSX500T11 - DreamStation Auto CPAP with humidifier and heated tube.

Where are you located?
USA or somewhere else?

Respironics might be having different numbers for different parts of the world.
They did that with the PR System One Auto cpap...in the US it was the 560 and in Canada it was the 561. It was the same machine just with different numbers.

I found this one showing the PR-500T12 which is the DreamStation Auto CPAP with heated tube
https://www.cpapclinic.ca/CPAP-store/Ph ... logID=1709.
and the website appears to be Canadian.

That's the one I want but can't find it near me. Heard the above one might be the same one as it has the same features but I want to confirm before I waste money

You might check with secondwindcpap.com. They are showing a new open box zero hour DSX500H11 for $799
http://www.secondwindcpap.com/Open_Box.html
I don't know how much shipping would be or the conversion rate from Canadian to US dollars but you can do the math and see if you can save a little money.
They also might have a gently used low hour machine available for even less if used doesn't bother you.
I have dealt with secondwindcpap.com and they are really good people. They do ship internationally so I know that won't be a problem.

Edit: Are you still want to use your government funding to purchase your machine? If so then you are pretty much limited to Canadian sellers who work with your insurance.
I do think that the above Canadian seller link that I posted most probably is for the DreamStation APAP that you are wanting and they just use a little different numbering and lettering at that website.

They may have made a mistake on the final digit. Other suppliers in Canada list the 11 but not a 12. Respironics does not list a 12 on their website.

Pugsy has given you a good option.

I think (can't swear to it though) that the letter after the 500 and the number after that denotes humidifier being packaged with the box and the heated hose or regular hose being included in the package.
All these cpap manufacturers offer various "packages" that cpap suppliers can buy.
Maybe one box is the blower and regular hose only and no humidifier at all. Maybe another box is the blower and humidifier but the non heated hose...and another box with the blower, humidifier and heated hose.
So some of the numbering could just be product packaging originally from the manufacturer. ResMed does this and even has a code for a box of 3 machines in one box.

I used to have the Respironics product list that showed the various combinations of PR System One machines, humidifier and hoses and USA vs other countries but that link is now broken and I don't have time to try to find a newer product list..

The main important number in the model number would be the 500 though.

Thanks for trying to help, I went to the store to check out the units and ended up picking up the airsense autoset 10. Didn't really like the look of the dreamstation and the slight extra features like bluetooth weren't enticing. And the guy at the store confirmed it was the same as the 500, he told me it's the code it canada.

The AirSense 10 AutoSet machine is a great machine.
I have actually used both brands of machines of various models (ResMed and Respironics) and I actually prefer the ResMeds just a little bit over the Respironics. 99.9% of the people who get the ResMed AutoSet are happy campers...and that other 0.1% well...you can't please everyone.
