headache and sinus pain

Post by ldyjane1 » Tue Dec 13, 2016 9:51 am

Can someone help me! Most mornings I wake with a headache and sinus pain from CPAP. I am on the Air fit 10 nasal mask with a humidity setting at 2.5. I feel like I am getting too much air blowing into my airway. Thanks for any suggestions.

Have you experimented with lower or higher humidity settings to see if lower or higher helped with your symptoms or not?
Google "cpap rhinitis" and read up.
Are you using a heated hose or regular non heated hose?
Which brand machine?
A setting of 2.5 on one brand machine with a heated hose could be a lot different than another brand machine and a non heated hose in terms of humidity delivered.

Have you gone to an ENT? I had this same problem, and it turns out my turbinates we not allowing airflow and one of my sinuses were collapsed. That, along with a deviated septum is what caused my obstruction. I ended up having surgery back in May, and I am no longer on a cpap. I've had 3 sleep studies since my surgery, ZERO apneas.

thanks Pugsy, a heated hose! I have one but never thought to use it. I have a resmed 9 machine

thanks Patrick, I just saw an ENT for ear issues and he checked nasal passage but didn't say anything was off.

I will keep changing humidity level to see what is going to work in cold new england winter weather.

I have this issue really bad. Max humidity helped my issue but others have said lower humidity. I don't know if there is a snot thickness table or a way to gauge snot production but the extra moisture helps mine to loosen up. The bad part is where all that loosen snot goes! Also nasal spray before bed worked well but I was informed regular use could lead to issues.
