Help with CPAP-Sleepyhead data

Post by OceanBlue » Sun Dec 11, 2016 4:14 pm

Hi,

Is anyone willing to take a look at the Sleepyhead data from my SD card and tell me if there is anything I can do to make this CPAP therapy actually effective? I will send you a drop box link if you are willing to take a look.

I've been having problems with this treatment for a really long time. I regained some hope because I found a new doctor, but he ended up with similar conclusions as other pulmonologists. If the AHI is low, then they don't look at much else.

One problem I've had is hypopneas and no stage 3 sleep. Three sleep studies confirm that. The last study noted a abnormal EKG baseline, but the doctor didn't think much of it. I've had several cardiac tests that show nothing, but have had frequent SOB and palpitation episodes, as well as low blood pressure. Last titration study (i think the diagnostic studies were similar) shows no obstructive apneas, but show hyponeas and central apneas at every level, with central apneas most frequent at 11.0 pressure. Strange, but one of the recommendations was "suggest a clinical trial of CPAP during all sleeping periods on setting of 11 cwp". Why would this be when I had most of the central apneas at that pressure?

I think my problem is shallow breathing, not OSA but it appears the treatment is the same. Sleep study showed minimum SpO2 at 91.0 and 93.0 a lot, but again, the doctor didn't think much of this. I do wake up in the morning at times, laying on my back, with numb hands, fingers, and forearms. I think this is from shallow breathing, maybe related to the central apneas. I also have central apneas while awake with the mask on, jolting me to breathe.

I would be so grateful if anyone could help at all, perhaps if you like problem solving, as this certainly is a mystery to me why I have felt so terrible with this treatment. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you kindly.

*Note there are some rather long and large leaks in there, but I was taking off my mask and leaving it running while i went to get a drink, bathroom, etc. Never gave it much thought before, but I'll have to stop doing that.

I was just reading this article, and thought, wow, my nasal passages are blocked, maybe that is why I don't fall into deep sleep (as the article states). I have low blood pressure, too.

I thought I breathed through my mouth to bypass this problem; the article doesn't mention anythign about that. Wouldn't breathing through your mouth mitigate this issue? Maybe not as I do find myself breathing through my nose 'by accident'. But if I had this issue, or it wasn't suspected, wouldn't the sleep medicine pulmonologists refer me to the ENT? I've been to 3 different sleep medicine doctors and none have any recommendations.

Any ideas on how to find an ENT who knows about this?

I could load it and post screenshots here for everyone to look at and help you.

You could send me the files I would then load them into sleepyhead for you and post the screenshots. Are you having trouble getting sleepyhead to run on your computer?

I am able to open the data in Sleephead but cannot figure out why CPAP isn't working for me, so I was asking for help with problem solving. I can post screenshots, I'm just not sure what to post. I had written about this in the past, and I remember being told it's better to copy the SD card into a dropbox, which I've done. Or maybe I have this mixed up with another forum where people are willing to look at others' Sleepyhead data?

Thanks for offering to make screen shots. I am able to do those though, so I wouldn't ask you to do it. That was kind of you.
