Has anyone experienced a burn of the humidifier when it ran out of water on the S-9 or S-10 Resmed machines ?

A burn? The plastic will smell terrible when heated without water.

Does a "burn" mean the air from the machine is hot enough to burn ones nasal passages? Or, rather, does it mean a scorching of the tank or the heater plate? For me, no is the answer to both possibilities for both machines. However, the plate of my S8 did discolor both the tank and the heater plate - it was not a debilitating event.

On mine, the bottom of the tank got a little discolored, but no bad smells.
