Re: Time to shop for my CPAP!
I have experienced the frustration of buying a new Airsense 10 Autoset from an online vendor.
I just received the machine, I found the SD card is missing.
I also found the cover of SD card and adapter are very sticky, it looks like something like label was glued on the cover.
I feel the machine may not be a brand new one, so I want to exchange it.
But the seller want to issue a RMA#, even I have not used machine so far.
And the seller told me that it takes approx 1 week for diagnostic
and can take anywhere from 3-6 wks to get a new replacement.
It depends if we have to send it to the manufacturer which will take longer.
I don't know how to deal with this online vendor.

auto what? there are three vastly different resmed s9 auto something machines.reolhlains wrote:Folks - I'm now home after some time travelling and need to buy my machine to stop the monthly rental.
I'm looking at the special on secondwindCPAP - (ResMed S9 Auto with humidifier, used) for $400.
What do people think of that and how does it compare with my DreamStation that I am using - will it feel much the same?
The DreamStation is the only one I have used and I'm now quite used to it and enjoy it - but happy to change as long as the feeling is much the same (i.e. I don't end up starting from the start again!). I also recall a post where someone said avoid a certain model - and I can't remember what that model was!!
Thanks everyone!!!
some people find the feel of the resmeds is different and better, or worse, than then respironics.

You can determine whether there are any run hour on the machine by using the menu screen. Go to My Options/About and check the Run Hours. They are not re-settable.bay123 wrote:I have experienced the frustration of buying a new Airsense 10 Autoset from an online vendor.

My main machine I now use I bought from Grayghost4 and it was a great deal. At his price you could also buy a second machine from secondwindcpap for backup for less than you would pay at home for one machine. Just a thought.

Is there a way checking warranty on resmed website?
Thank you

The warranty is only good if you purchased from a DME. The manufacturer will not deal with individuals. cpap.com will handle any warranty issues for you, with the manufacturer.

I am very surprised that the manufacturer will not deal with individuals in USA.LSAT wrote:

What happen if DME is out of business.
I am 1st time cpap machine buyer, and I really don't understand this rule.

Re: Time to shop for my CPAP!
A new DME can help with your warranty--just start asking.
If a vendor has a contract with the maker of your machine, and the warranty is in effect, they cannot refuse.
If the warranty is over, contact accurate, a forum member, who works at acbio.com,
(a company that repairs cpap machines)

Manufacturers do NOT deal directly with the end user........PERIOD!bay123 wrote:I am very surprised that the manufacturer will not deal with individuals in USA.LSAT wrote:

Over the years, there have been numerous stories of "brick & mortar" DMEs going out of business.
If that happens, it's like owning an automobile and the dealership goes out of business........
With regard to the manufacturers, the end users (YOU and ME) are not the "customers"........their customers are the DMEs.
I realize this is a stark detour from the way most other businesses operate, but these are medical devices and they have a different set of business models.

If car dealer is out of business, we still can go after the original manufacturers which is much bigger company.Wulfman... wrote:......

Once we buy a car from a authorized dealer, we can ask any authorized dealer to work on warranty job.
By this way, the customer get protected.
I really don't think this rule makes any sense:
The warranty is tied only to a online dealer where you bought your cpap machine.

Other places do warranty work, but you haven't even used the machine so how do you know it needs warranty work. A missing SD card is easy to correct and stickiness from tape can be removed. You said it has 0 run hours. If you still want to spend your money, I'm sure acbio.com could tell you it is in good working order.

Re: Time to shop for my CPAP!
We had a Chevrolet dealership in this area since the 1930s. If you didn't buy your vehicle from THEM, you were SOL trying to get them to work on a vehicle if you bought it elsewhere. Didn't make any difference if it was a Chevrolet or other GM product. If you didn't buy it from them, too bad. The original owner finally died a few years ago and the dealership was acquired by another entity. I would imagine things are better now, but I would have never done business with them before and haven't had the need to have any work done by the new owners. The original owner also had other things in his past which prevented me from doing business with that kind of person.bay123 wrote:chunkyfrog wrote:.......

My point is that there were instances that don't follow the business procedures we consider "normal".
CPAP.COM is a very reputable business. The vast majority of the users of this forum have also had very favorable experiences with them. If you have any issues, contact Johnny Goodman and discuss things with him.

I either don't understand why cpap.com wanted to issue a RMA ticket to me. Possibly they want to shut up my complaint.OkyDoky wrote:Other places do warranty work, but you haven't even used the machine so how do you know it needs warranty work. Should I spend more money and clean the machine myself after I already spend lots of money buying a "brand new" reputable resmed cpap machine from a reputable cpap.com.
I live in a big city, it is much easy for me to shop around different authorized dealers.Wulfman wrote: ........
Their service department don't care my car bought from other dealer as long as me or car maker will pay the work.

An RMA ticket is issued by many retailers. I've returned items using this system before. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Return_me ... horizationbay123 wrote:I either don't understand why cpap.com wanted to issue a RMA ticket to me.
