FFM fundamental ? Demoing masks

Post by krl » Thu Oct 20, 2016 5:13 pm

After having landed on being a nasal mask/pillow-chin-strap-double-taping user, I am anticipating the backup/sick mask inevitability. I tried the hybrid Mirage Liberty and think the nasal ports are too invasive. I also realized that my mouth will be open the entire night with the blow-fish cheeks.

For those folks who have their jaw dropping, which brings on the blow-cheeks from the FFM I have a few questions.

I read on one post where someone mentioned that they're able to put their tongue against the roof of their mouth while sleeping? This seems (on it's face) impossible, but I know the body can adapt to many things. I'd like some clarity on that. When your jaw remains open all night - what does that do to your cheek muscles in the morning? Is that part of the CPAP bargain, Dizzy Gillespie cheeks? As always thanks for the advice. K

For a full face mask that is of the hybrid (sort of) type look at the Amara View
It uses a cradle cushion similar to your DreamWear cushion instead of the nasal pillows that the Liberty uses that you didn't care for.

Re: the tongue thing:
Some folks do it, and claim it's easy. Others try, but it goes away once their "sleep brain" takes over.
It kind of works for me, but not consistently.
Having viewed my leak rates, I decided what little leakage I have beats the hell out of being miserable.
Score one for full data machines. You do whatever works for YOU.
