Doc does't have card reader -solved

Post by PaJoe » Mon Oct 03, 2016 2:53 pm

I am seeing a neurologist this week as a new patient , the nurse said they do not have a card reader. She said I should have my DME download the information, but I get all my sleep apnea supplies at cpap.com As recommended by the nurse, I called a local DME and they more or less laughed at me for even asking, they only do it for their customers.

Anyhow, what software do doctors/DME use to read a sd card from a Resmed Autoset 10 and do they save it as a .pdf etc.?
It's just a sd card , I have no trouble reading the contents on any of our computers ( we use linux) - but I need to get it into
something the doctors office can look at. We just use SleepyHead to see the basics, but I suspect that if I print up a lot of
reports they will just comment on the pretty colors and toss it unless the information is the format they expect to see.

Thanks in advance

Sleepyhead has twice the info the doctors use, let alone understand. If you can print up a few graphs with results (on the left) for him (leave out the calendar), he'll probably be thrilled, especially if you explain it to him. What they normally look at is only compliance, and that's only so the insce. co. will keep paying for the machine. Most doctors don't understand any of it!

And if I'm wrong I'm sure lots of others here will let me know.

The doctor is probably going to be familiar with the ResMed software....ResScan
You can get it and do your own reports.

The doctor may not be familiar with SleepyHead and might question accuracy.

See first post here for how to get ResScan

Just in case...I'm not sure if it is immediately obvious, but one must register with and log in to apneaboard to get ResScan.

Yes. The need to register and log in is mentioned on the page I linked to.

I know it is, but you know how many people ask for the link and then fail to follow the instructions

well, if they want it bad enough, maybe they'll figure it out

I say, take a notebook with sleepyhead in and show 'em some detail

You mean like they do when they request a link in the ResScan Thread?

I know but I have gotten tired of spoon feeding people.
Same reason I don't respond much in the "please send me link to download so and so" threads when the answer is right in front of them a gazillion times and they are too lazy to bother to look.
I got worn out spoon feeding people and decided they need to learn to feed themselves.

feed themselves, or starve.... think of it as evolution in action.

+1 (consider adding ResScan as well for a comparison)

This is not my experience.

They have been asking for my cardfor years. Until a few months ago, I was using an ancient CPAP that didn't record anything other than the hours the machine ran (whether or not the mask was on).

Finally, I got a new machine this year and was able to bring in my card. The clerical staff took the card, did whatever it is they do with it, and returned it to me. By the time the doc saw me, my info was up on the computer.

Your experience probably was with a sleep doc. A neurologist is less likely to have the cpap stuff.
(I tried to simplify it for you)
