I've had a few complaints of the Airsense/Aircurve 10 Hypoallergenic filters getting partially pulled into the unit, especially at higher pressure settings. Has anyone here had that problem? I have been under the impression (from my Resmed rep) that use of the Standard and Hypoallergenic filters is an either/or thing... you use one or the other, not both at the same time.
On the other hand, the Respironics DreamStation can use the reusable pollen filter alone or in combination with the Hypoallergenic filter (the Hypoallergenic filter is not to be used alone) and their filters appear to be made of similar materials to the Resmed ones, though Respironics has gone all fancy with the plastic framing of their filters.
This comparison has led me to wonder whether Resmed's Hypoallergenic filter should also be used only in conjunction with the Standard filter. Using it this way would presumably keep it from getting sucked into the air intake. A call to Resmed's tech support got me nowhere. The tech claimed that no one else had ever complained of the Hypoallergenic filter being drawn into the unit AND, when I asked about the possibility of the two filters being used together, he admitted he didn't know the answer.
This possibility of using them together could also perhaps explain why the Airsense 10 User Guide suggests that the Standard filter could last as long as six months (like the DreamStation reusable pollen filter).
Thanks for your input
