Strange vibration problem with AirSense 10
Re: Strange vibration problem with AirSense 10
Ah, of course, thank you. Should have thought of that! My brain's overloaded at the moment learning new things.
palerider, just uploaded the zip of the SD card. Thanks so much for your help!

noooo, just zip up the *entire* sd card... all the files, in all the folders, as well as files in the root directory, they're all needed.Pugsy wrote:See if you can copy the contents of the SD card into a folder.

Re: Strange vibration problem with AirSense 10
I did--I copied the whole SD card contents into another folder and zipped that. Hope it worked okay...
Re: Strange vibration problem with AirSense 10
Helluva way to do it. I have always done it the other way but it's something that I can do in the blink of an eye and never thought about just doing the SD card.palerider wrote:noooo, just zip up the *entire* sd card... all the files, in all the folders, as well as files in the root directory, they're all needed.
Next time I have occasion to do it that I will give it a try.
I am always for making things less work for me.
I will let you handle the viewing of the files and flow rate. I don't have the time right now to do it.
Got some chores I am in the middle of getting accomplished at the moment.

all those spots where the mask pressure line gets thick and fuzzy after a few seconds of no breathing (I might have missed a couple).
I'd also suggest setting your machine to autosetset for her mode, min pressure 7, max 9, and seeing how things go. you've got a great machine, unfortunately it's currently chained down and unable to do anything to help you if you need it.

Re: Strange vibration problem with AirSense 10
Thank you, palerider! I'm relieved to know what it is and that I'm not imagining it. I mean, I knew I wasn't since I could actually see the mask vibrating, but it's good to have an answer so I can be informed when I talk to the clinic techs again.
I'll try your suggestions tonight, and will look into switching to a PR Systems One with the longer rate. I'm stressed enough trying to sleep with a mask on, so assuming the PR machine is good, I'd rather switch and not have to worry about it waking me. Sometimes worrying about something possibly happening is just as bad for me. Especially when I'm trying to sleep.
You and Pugsy have been so helpful! Greatly appreciated.

Re: Strange vibration problem with AirSense 10
Here's another shot:

I cloned the mask pressure from a little earlier (and then noticed a couple other not quite apneas on the main chart) you see where the FOT is kicking in, and if the total duration lasts 10 seconds, it gets flagged as an apnea. when the FOT is pronounced and sharp, and the flow rate line barely fluctuates in time with it, then it's an obstructive apnea, when the FOT is very muted and there's more wiggle in the flow rate, then it's a central apnea.
you are breathing slow, and not breathing long enough, even when presumably awake, and your throat is closing. note that these are all happening within a few minutes of masking up. (which happened at 21:13:26 on the chart).

Re: Strange vibration problem with AirSense 10
be aware that the pr will do pulses of air, every few seconds, instead of the FOT, but they both try to see what kind of apena you're having.Stacey99 wrote:Thank you, palerider! I'm a big fan of the resmed for a variety of reasons, including the fact that the PR doesn't even *HAVE* that mask trace line that let me show you what was happening.

Re: Strange vibration problem with AirSense 10
Thanks for the additional info! Not sure how to get myself to breathe faster, heh. Maybe I'll see if I can try the Phillips. Since I'm going to have the machine for 5 years, want to make sure it's not going to drive me more nuts than it has to. But I do like the ResMed in all other ways.
Re: Strange vibration problem with AirSense 10
sorry, I have a big of a knee jerk reaction left over from my time collecting data for the sleepyhead beta... the number of people that would send the folders (and miss the critical control files in the root of the sd card) or *SOME* of what was in the folder, or the ones that thought they were being 'smart' and would go and edit some of the files "for privacy" and change the serial number of the machine (who cares) or delete things.... all of which make the data useless because then it won't load into resscan or encore. sometimes SH would load it, not caring as much, but the whole point was to get data to compare against...Pugsy wrote:Helluva way to do it. Re: Strange vibration problem with AirSense 10
well, you've already got the best regular cpap out there, and given a little more time, you'll likely not even notice these little things.Stacey99 wrote:Thanks for the additional info! try the ramp setting, set it for 30 minute and start at 6.8cm pressure see if that makes a difference.
you'll notice that once you get to sleep, your respiration rate speeds up and gets steady. so it's just a matter of either ignoring the FOT, or getting used to it, till you fall asleep.

Re: Strange vibration problem with AirSense 10
Will do. Thank you!
Re: Strange vibration problem with AirSense 10
Let us know if using the ramp delays the FOT kicking in or not. I just don't know for sure about the AirSense ramp. I think in ramp that the machine doesn't flag or respond to apnea events so in theory anyway FOT shouldn't happen until out of ramp.
Bear in mind if you do try the Respironics machine...those pressure pulses could potentially be just as annoying and Respironics ramp won't stop the pressure pulses if you are in auto mode because in auto mode the machine will suspend ramp if it detects some sort of collapsing of the airway....so the pressure pulses could happen. They don't always happen but both the FOT and the pressure pulses are used when the machine needs some help in deciding what is going on with the reduction in air flow.
I don't know if the pressure pulse would still happen if in cpap mode though.
