Anit-snore device?

Post by tjgriffin » Fri Sep 02, 2016 9:01 am

I just saw this article on a tech site (New Atlas, formerly Gizmag) about an anti-snoring device. It supposedly works by recognizing the sound of snoring and using vibrations to stimulate the vagus nerve, causing the throat muscles the tighten up and open the air way. This is their third version and its been around since 2012. I think I know the answer, but... any chance this would be effective for sleep apnea?

They don't make any claims about OSA or medical treatment and I'm 99.9% sure they haven't done any clinical trials. I also know that apnea can occur without snoring. What I wander is does stimulating the vagus nerve interfere with the sleep cycle? Could this help some patients, maybe with non-centeral sleep apnea, or for whom events are frequently preceded with snoring?

I'm not pushing this at all, and I've loved my APAP literally since my first night years ago. I just wonder if there might some day be a non-xPAP treatment and if it might look something like this. Thanks!

Interesting. Will have to do some investigating into this.
President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.

Interesting that on the Snore Circle website it makes no mention of vagus nerve stimulation... which is now being done on a limited scale by imlanting an electrode in your upper chest - not sure if it's still considered experimental or not.
