Red marks on face

Post by Tmommy4 » Thu Sep 01, 2016 9:49 am

I've developed red marks on my cheeks around my nose. I believe my cushion needs to be replaced and I've tried to compensate for the leaking by making the mask tighter, if that makes sense. I wear an F10 size medium.

Anyway, I have ordered a new mask/cushion from an eBay seller (that's ok to do, right? It was a lot less money) and will just use my existing head gear with it. Any suggestions as to what to do about my skin? It's horribly dry/flaky and red. Maybe a good moisturizer? I don't want to not use my machine.

Thanks!!

No moisturizers as they make the mask slip around, but for heaven's sake loosen it, not tighten! And get a 'liner' from Padacheek.com... made just for the problem. You might ask your dermatologist though if a little prednisone cream (sunk in before bed) will clear up the problem.

Its okay to use moisturizers in the morning, that way your face will not be greasy by bedtime. I have found that when using a full face mask my face (under the mask part) is much more supple because of the moisture its getting from the machine.
Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.

That mask is not designed to be worn tight...learn to wear it properly and the cushions will last a long time.

It does sound like you have the mask adjusted too tightly!

For dryness, do try a good moisturizer. You won't know if it causes the mask to "slide around" until you try it for yourself. I use a moisturizer with my FFM and the mask does not leak.

Thank you for the helpful info. I had figured out I am wearing it too tight, but like I said I did it to stop it from leaking. I have lost significant weight since my diagnosis, including in my face. 50 lbs since December! I also ordered one of the Padacheek liners. Hopefully that helps.

Congratulations on the weight loss. You may need to use a different size mask in the model you're using, or maybe even a different model mask.
