What Significance does the 90% pressure reading

have on my CPAP machine? seems I am consistently around 12.5???? Hoping that all my profile info comes up here on my first email? My machines has what appears to be an advertisement on it for the Phillips DreamMapper app. Is this app useful? Is anybody out there using it and to what advantage. I will be on the machine 2 years this December - no issues other than occasional leaking mask and often wake up to AHI readings less than 1.0. When I did my sleep study I had an 66 apneas per hour so I guess this working. Would love to know what I need to do to get my oxygen saturation level results on this unit. Is it upgradable? Also interested in the periodic breathing function and how that is measured. Guess I should have been looking for you guys from the start.

I recently upgraded to a PR 560 and found DreamMapper next to useless. Get SleepyHead (excellent free data viewer) and then learn how to interpret all the data.

Congrats on sometimes getting AHI's less than 1. But don't get complacent with the results like I did and regret it later.

I read some of your posts, and I understand why you enthusiastically say that.

But, some years ago I got my AHI consistently under 1.0 with zero leak, and I began to sleep 7 or 8 hours every night. I stopped optimizing.

Nice! Average AHI < 1.0 is my goal, Duck. Maybe if I achieve that I'll reconsider. In the mean time I shall continue experimenting. As a retired scientist it will help to keep me occupied.

For oxygen saturation, you actually need another device. It's not that expensive - it's basically a watch with a connected rubber piece that you attach to your finger. Getting the software on my computer was the hard part. Even better, you can match it with your cpap machine using Sleepyhead by starting both at the same time. I was advised by several people here that it isn't necessary unless you are still slogging through the day. Helps to eliminate causes. I did get one a couple of months ago and it has been a good addition because I have a slow heart rate and it confirms to me that it hasn't worsened.

They come with the software but SleepyHead is also compatible with the CMS brand.
Once you decide which model you like you might check EBay. You can buy direct from China and save some money.

Thanks Pugsy. I have noticed recently that my AHI is lower when I wear a nasal dilator. Many nights my AHI is 0.4 to 0.9. One night I actually had a 0.0 AHI. How odd/rare is that? It has happened once in 20 months since I started using my CPAP machine.

I don't know what a nasal dilator is. But, my AHI is frequently under .5 and I get 0.0 AHI several times a month. Comes and goes depending on the weather, fires in the West and what not. Still, if your numbers are nearly always below 1.0 and you have few leaks, you are doing GREAT! If you are still slogging though, then you have to look to possible other causes.
