Experience with Hybrid masks ?

Post by jmsnyc » Mon Aug 22, 2016 3:28 pm

Hi ,

I currently have a Resmed Airfit F10 and it leaks like crazy whenever I move. I wanted to get opinions on Hybrid masks. On cpap.com there are only 2, Innomed & Resmed Mirage Liberty.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks.

The InnoMed is the original and the best one.

I have been using it for the last 6 years.

The Amara View is another one .
If you're not part of the solution you're just scumming up the bottom of the beaker!

Get the Clinicians manual here : http://apneaboard.com/adjust-cpap-press ... tup-manual

I use a P10 most of the time but the Amara View is a good reserve if I get badly congested.

How are leaks ? Is the Amara worth looking at ? Cpap.com doesnt seem to sell it/

How do I pick between Innomed and Resmed ?

While the Amara View is sort of a hybrid mask it isn't in the product section devoted to the traditional hybrid types with nasal pillows.
Instead it is found in the Full Face mask product section at cpap.com.

I have tried both of the hybrid masks and could not get either one to seal correctly. I use the Amara View which covers the mouth and comes up under the nose much like the new Dreamwear mask.

The innomed hybrid is a hard mask to fit - too many options. There is also a wiki page on fitting and McGyvering the mask.

It definitely is challenging. I was in tears the first time I tried it. I struggled for over 2 hours with it but once I got it done it was fine. My biggest problem was getting the cushion fitted correctly in the frame.
I do think the Amara View was much easier to fit but then when I tried the Hybrid I was very new to the whole cpap therapy thing and I had learned a lot about various mask fitting by the time I tried the Amara View.
I have never tried the ResMed Liberty so I don't know anything about it.

The Innomed comes with 3 sizes of cushions as well as the nasal pillows...that can be both a blessing and a curse.

And 3 strap adjustments - that is 3x3x3 possible combinations..... For me the top of the head adjustment was the thing that made things fall into place, plus an elastic strap across the nasal pillows which allowed me to release some of the tension on the other straps.
