time for a replacement?

Post by porkchop6 » Tue Aug 16, 2016 3:39 pm

I've been on a PR System One REMstar Plus CPAP Machine with C-Flex for 5 1/2 years. It seems to be working great, but i'm thinking might need to go ahead and get it replaced. My Medicare and Blue Cross supplimental will cover it, but a little afraid the replacement machine will be inferior to what I got now! Anyone have any ideas what machine will replace what I got? Also, Can I keep this machine to use as a backup, if needed? I'm not interested in changing settings or recording readouts and self analyzing and that kinda stuff.

there's not a lot that's inferior to a PR System One REMstar Plus CPAP, I shouldn't worry.

Use my link below (you can expand the search distance) to identify Medicare providers near you.
Phone numbers are listed so you can call them and see who has real people manning the phone, etc.
You may want to have your doctor specify what mask and MODEL machine you want on your RX.
The green M refers to contracted providers who can not upcharge.

Keep your current machine for a backup.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

You better make sure Medicare will cover it. Just because its older than 5 years Medicare may not replace it unless it is not working properly. It is not a sure thing anymore! Plus you will have to go through the compliance period again with Dr. documentation. Plus a DME approved by Medicare.

At that age, your old machine may have "gotten noisy",
And your doctor might want you to have a machine with better FEEDBACK..
Either may be cause for a replacement under Medicare.
If your current machine was purchased by anyone other than Medicare, it doesn't even count.
