Sudden Increase in Central Events...why?

Post by tbirdwilson » Fri Aug 12, 2016 11:14 am

I'm puzzling over a couple of nearly identical nights of wake to sleep and sleep to wake central events.

For months I've had an AHI of between 2-4. I'll have some centrals scattered in there, but generally no more than 1-2 per hour. Then suddenly I'm having 4-5 per hour.
Seems like leaks are under control. I wear a chin strap for mouth breathing. I did tape for a long while, and it's the only thing I've changed in the last week. I stopped using it because it seems risky. In any case, I still had several nights under 4 this week with chinstrap on but no tape.

I do have some allergies, and had a blocked nostril last night, which is probably why I was up several times. But I've had this before and not this many centrals. So just wondering if anything stands out from my graphs to any of the vets. Does anyone else get sudden AHI increases (especially centrals) with congestion?

I use an Airfit P-10 with a simple elastic chin strap, and I've been at a fixed 10cm pressure for several months.

A typical good night:

And then some hard ones:

Looks like most of the CAs came when you were trying to fall asleep and just before you woke up. With a stuffed nose you were most likely restless and not sleeping soundly. You turned the machine off several times.
