may have found out why still tired after using cpap
From the first day I received the machine, I had been placing it in the drawer space where the original drawer was taken out.
It is because I was told that the machine is extremely sensitive to shocks and any movements or droppings could result in non-repairable damages.
Therefore I took great care of it. I even made a hole on the back wall for the hose and cable to escape on the back.
Then yesterday I realized that although I left the ventilation hole with a space of like 5 inches from the wall, it might still be hard for any fresh air to get in that gap. It makes sense to me because if I could ever scale down my head and breath there, I would have been able to breath but not been getting fresh air with good oxygen level because it is a space that air could hardly flow in and out.
The thing is like I am getting good breathing but because of the low oxygen level, it compensates the amount of oxygen that I should be getting.
In view of this, I rotated my machine like 70 degrees so that the ventilation could face outwards in hope of reaching the air flow outside more effectively.
Last night, I just slept for a few hours but felt not so tired in the morning. But I am not sure if it is simply a coincidence.
What do you guys think? Is there even a requirement there of placing your machine?

you, er, do realize... that the intake on most of these things is a hole smaller around than your thumb, right?crappyman wrote:Then yesterday I realized that although I left the ventilation hole with a space of like 5 inches from the wall... My machine is in the nightstand drawer. The drawer opening is wide enough for the hose.

you also should think about how the filtered intake of the machine only pulls air in, the air exhausts at your mask, not the back of the cpap.crappyman wrote: I would have been able to breath but not been getting fresh air with good oxygen level because it is a space that air could hardly flow in and out.

um... you think it is not related, right?palerider wrote:you also should think about how the filtered intake of the machine only pulls air in, the air exhausts at your mask, not the back of the cpap.crappyman wrote: I would have been able to breath but not been getting fresh air with good oxygen level because it is a space that air could hardly flow in and out.

I will report back whether or not it has an effect after a few days.

Mine looks like this but the back is not open.
Instead of putting it on top, I put it down below.

I want you to try this with the board in the closed position to see if you can still get a good night sleep
Re: may have found out why still tired after using cpap
well, since that's not even close to what you've described your alleged setup is, I'll just assume that's some more of your typical senseless bullshit.crappyman wrote:I want you to try this with the board in the closed position to see if you can still get a good night sleeppalerider wrote:in a word: "correct".crappyman wrote:um... you think it is not related, right?

Re: may have found out why still tired after using cpap
You know what I think?
I tend to agree that it sounds like from your original setup that there was enough space for air movement and despite it might being a little close down there behind the machine...the air in that area contains the same amount of oxygen as the air on top of the night stand.
So unless someone puts their machine in a shoe box or plastic bag and really confines the machine in some fashion...I don't think that it really matters
BUT
If you think it helps...that is all that matters. Maybe I am picturing a machine that is not confined as much as it really was confined. That's entirely possible. So maybe it was in more of a shoe box type of situation and I wouldn't want something that confined myself.
I put my machine on top of my night stand...in over 7 years with my using it on top I have never had it fall or come off the night stand. It's on a little towel so that I don't get machine vibration sounds on the wood.
And I toss and turn a lot during the night from side to side...never pulled it off...came close once and got it on the edge but that's it.
In the long run....if you think changing the placement helps...that's all that matters.
And as for that machine in that drawer and the lid and the way that one was setup...no way would I want my machine that enclosed. That's a big shoebox IMHO.

Re: may have found out why still tired after using cpap
I bought one of these in dark mahogany. Not high end but surprisingly well built for a $150.

The hose tucks inside, you don't have to attach the 3M hanger.
Google "cpap nightstand" I got this one at Wayfair.com. Regardless of the price they are all made by the same company, Perdue Woodworks. so go lowest price. Wayfair.com is at $159.99 with lots of good reviews. Wayfair also has free shipping, which is a pretty good deal since this is already assembled except for the knobs and the slide out drawer. They have 4 colors/finishes.

I got one just like yours, but it is black. Works well and I'm totally pleased with it.Omne wrote:I bought one of these in dark mahogany. Not high end but surprisingly well built for a $150.

I bought a used cabinet for $15. I keep the mask and small suppliesin the top drawer. Machine in the middle drawer (closed during the day). And backup supplies in the larger bottom drawer.
Works great for me.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?
Re: may have found out why still tired after using cpap
I used another approach, I trained mine not to jump off the table in 2005, I told it if it fell off, I'd go out to the maple tree in the front yard, pull off a switch, and beat it until it got smarted. Seeing as how it stores full data, it was smart enough to test me, 11 years and it has not jumped off that table or left any puddles.
A lot can be said for proper training.... I saved $150.00, and $ 300.00 for the No-Clean machine, almost to pay for that new spare Tank APAP I bought from Cpap.com. Jim
