Water droplets

Post by Jane60 » Sat Jul 30, 2016 6:03 pm

I've been on my machine for about a year and was using the mask that fits over the nose. Results were dramatic and I felt more energised within a month. However, I was getting droplets of water in the hose on cold nights. I then purchased a heated tube and problem was solved for now. The mask started to make loud buzzing noises, I suspect a leak and I changed to the nostril mask a few days ago. This is a cheaper option as I can replace parts rather than the whole mask when the rubbery bit gets old. Adjusting this mask for a perfect fit has been more difficult and I need to have my hair in a ponytail to keep the top strap from slipping. ALSO, I still get small droplets of water which can be cold and wake me up. Anyone else experiencing similar issues. I'm tired again and finding the whole thing a bit depressing.

Just occurred to me... would the pressure have to be adjusted when changing from a nose to a nasal mask? I have severe apnoea and pressure is set at 9.

what's the difference in a "nose" and "nasal" mask, in your view? since they're typically considered to be the same thing.

and, no.

Condensation in the hose or mask
read posts # 2 and 3 in this thread

Probably moisture from your own exhaled breath condensing in the mask...maybe your ambient room temp is a bit lower or something.
Anyway, since you already have a heated hose I suspect all you need to do it increase the hose air temp just a little so that the air in the mask is just a little bit warmer and it shouldn't condense then.

Thanks for your reply Pugsy, Yep, my house a tad cold. I think of the nose mask as the 'pigs snout' looking one and the nasal as the nostril pad one, which is the one i have now. Not really across the technical names. I'll have a look at how I can increase the tube temp. Don't use heating at night in the house, roll on Summer.
