Upgrade from ResMed AutoSet II

Post by snorenomore2016 » Mon Jul 11, 2016 11:01 am

Hi All,

I haven't been on this board for many years. I wonder if any of my old friends like "Rested Lady" are still around.

Anyway, I have a ResMed AutoSet II with humidifier and would like to upgrade to a newer model. Can anyone recommend what is the best machine to buy or should I just buy the ResMed replacement to the AutoSet II? I'm sure there have been lots of changes since the old days. My cm is around 10cm I think.

I travel a lot and would like something lightweight with a good carrying case and small format. I use the Activa mask if that makes any difference.

Thanks for your help!

There have been some changes since your current machine was new.

You can't go wrong with getting the latest model of your machine.

I was noticing there's also a S9 AutoSet™ CPAP Machine which I guess is the last year's model and is $200+ cheaper than the S10. Does anyone know what improvement the newest model has over the S9 to make it worth the extra $200 bucks?

the air10 autoset is pretty much the s9 autoset in a different case. it's had teething issues.

the autoset for her has a new, possibly better mode that's marketed for women, but I can see it being useful for anybody.

If you are paying totally out of pocket then by all means get the S9 AutoSet and save some money.
The new features are mostly "fluff" but the way the machine goes about its job is the same with the S9 or the AirSense models.
The big change came when they went to the S9 model from your S8 model and they changed the algorithm.
They didn't change the algorithm when they went from the S9 to the AirSense.

There are a couple of little extra features in terms of data reported (like CSR breathing) that the S9 doesn't have but the AirSense does....but it really is something that doesn't happen all that often and probably not worth the extra expense when someone is footing the bill themselves. Now if insurance was paying...yeah go for the latest and greatest but if you are paying it all yourself...save some money because the new features available on the AirSense probably will not be anything you need or will miss.
