SD card not recording with write protection off
SD card not recording with write protection off
Night before last, I forgot to switch the SD card into unlock position, so, of course, there was no data yesterday morning. Last night, with the card in unlock position, the machine did not come on and there was a message on the screen asking me if I wanted to delete all the previous data. I was sleepy and just turned the machine off and then on again, allowing it to start blowing. But, this morning there is no data. Is there a way to just clear all the data and start over?
Re: SD card not recording with write protection off
Which machine are you using?
And are you wanting to just remove the data from the SD card?

Re: SD card not recording with write protection off
Pugsy, thank you for the reply. I'm using a Resmed S9. I don't care if the data is erased. I just need the card to record. I need info to go into battle with the doctor over prescribed mask. Surely, the problem is due to leaving the card in the machine in a locked position for one night.
Re: SD card not recording with write protection off
If you are getting the "invalid card" message from the S9 and it then asks you if you want to erase the card just tell it "yes" and let it do its thing. I am unsure of why having it in write protect mode would cause the problem once write protect was turned off but if the S9 doesn't like the card then there's not much you can do about it.
Once the S9 erases the card it will then put whatever data it has stored in its internal memory back on the card.
The down side is that the S9 doesn't store any detailed graphs in that memory. All it stores is the summary data..AHI, leak number, maybe pressure and of course usage.
If it is critical that you have the detailed files available for the doctor's software then before letting the S9 erase the card I would make a copy of the card contents and put it on your computer for safe keeping and then maybe transfer it to another SD card. Or if you have another SD card right now just use it and leave the old card alone until you get the contents of that card to the doctor.

Re: SD card not recording with write protection off
I suspect that sometimes the card gets corrupted, although why, I have no clue. This just happened to my Airsense SD card. COULD be repeatedly taking it out of machine is the cause, but I take SD cards out of my camera all of the time and have never had one fail.

Re: SD card not recording with write protection off
The data on this machine hasn't been checked for years because it was purchased through an individual without a prescription. Last week I had a sleep study funded by our Medicare socialized program. (Last time I'll ever do that!). I had a lot of leak with my ancient nasal pillows mask and the tech insisted that I should use an FFM which hurt my face. So I thought I would show the doctor my normal leak rate from home so that he wouldn't write a script for a mask that I don't want.
When the machine asked me if I wanted to erase all data, it didn't respond when I tried either answer. (It is an interactive screen isn't it?) I''ll order another card since I have no idea why this one isn't working.
The most frightening thing is to have the government interfering with my health issues.

Re: SD card not recording with write protection off
If it's an old card it could have just died...or maybe the write protect thing isn't working properly or half way.
Yes...when it asked you if you wanted to erase the data you should have been able to tell it yes and then it would ask for confirmation. You can do it all with the S9.
Alternately you can erase the SD card the old fashioned way with your computer by navigating to the SD card and manually removing all the folders.
S9 machines what that SD card to look a certain way and if it doesn't look that way it will reject it.
And sometimes things happen to the card that we don't know about or maybe the write protect didn't do a good lock out and maybe your computer OS put one of those weird little text files on it.
Any number of things could have caused the problem but if its a older card...time for a new one anyway.

Re: SD card not recording with write protection off
All data is saved in case it's needed and a new card is on the way. Thanks for the input.
