Re: Best ASV
The best one is the one that works for you. Same goes for masks. We are all different.

Re: Best ASV
The dreamstation ASV should be available any day now. I just purchased the 60 series which is the current offering. They released a new model after I purchased my first ASV, and it's been 20 days since I picked up my 60 series.....
Re: Best ASV
I was hoping to get an answer from people who are currently using an ASV machine and KNOW what they are talking about!
Are there any noticeable differences in algorithm etc......Thanks

considerable, as with the regular apaps and bilevels.rozenbob wrote:I was hoping to get an answer from people who are currently using an ASV machine and KNOW what they are talking about!

I think resmed is clearly superior, they invented the tech... their machine seem to do a better job giving people lower AHIs...
others disagree, and prefer the respironics...partially because they are slower to respond. some might consider them 'gentler'.
I suggest doing some searching of the archives here, there are a number of detailed comparisons that have been written up. (you can search through search engines by putting "site:cpaptalk.com" in the search field along with what you're looking for)

Accounts to put on the foe list: dataq1, clownbell, gearchange, lynninnj, mper!?, DreamDiver, Geer1, almostadoctor, sleepgeek, ajack, stom, mogy, D.H., They often post misleading, timewasting stuff.

Re: Best ASV
You aren't going to find very many ASV users who have actually used both brands. Most will be one or the other and likely tell you that the one they are using is great.
There's pros and cons to either. I have never seen a comparison of each brand's algorithm but then I haven't looked. I have owned both brands but in the prior model...PR S1 model 960 and the S9 VPAP Adapt.
From what I understand the new models did not change the algorithms at all...just updated the other stuff.
I actually preferred the ResMed S9 Adapt over the PR S1 960 because I liked that it was a bit more "aggressive" but some people might actually prefer a kinder gentler approach. The Respironics machine had more settings available for customization which could be both good and bad. More things to fiddle with can drive you crazy when tweaking.
It may be a moot point...I am not aware of Respironics releasing the DreamStation Auto SV yet. I can't find it for sale in any of the usual places yet
and their website doesn't list it yet...scroll way down to the bottom of the page

Re: Best ASV
You cannot get the comparison you want because as I stated earlier the dream station is not available as an ASV. My DME person says that there is no announced release date and changes will be cosmetic, not functional. I have only used Respironics ASVs. My AHI has been below 1 so there is really no incentive to switch manufacturers. All of the sleep specialists I've worked with only titrate Respironics machines. My husband's sleep center only does ResMed. My guess would be that give the small number of people who use ASVs there aren't a lot who have tried both.
Re: Best ASV
I guess I will not make a suggestion and see what my DME issues.
Thanks Again

Re: Best ASV
I have been using the ResMed Aircurve 10 ASV for almost a year. Except for mask issues I have had good numbers since starting therapy. My AHI is almost always below 1.0. During a recent very high stress period my AHI still was less than 5.0. I use sleepyhead software and did track my results daily but have now been only doing random checks - that's how confident I am that this machine is doing its job.
Good luck to you.
Good luck to you.
