Post by viking » Thu Jun 02, 2016 4:43 am

Been waking up at around 1am then 3am and having a tough time falling back to sleep after 3am I am going to bed around 10 pm just wondering if anyone else had this problem and how did you conquer it.Also today my cable company is putting in my new router so I will be able to finally get on sleepyhead so I will post some of my nights and let some of the great people on here break it down. Thanks for your time and info its must appreciated

Amy idea why you are waking up? Leak? Noise? Bathroom? Could just be changing sleep stages.
I'm a fan of some relaxation exercises if getting to sleep is a struggle (what's happening when u struggle or is it just you don't feel sleepy?), there's plenty on youtube to choose from.

I really am not sure when I wake I don't go to bathroom just feel like its time to get up but ive only had maybe 5 hrs sleep then I fuss with my nasal mask a bit lay there looking at the ceiling hoping to fall back to sleep before I have to get up and go to work,i did switch from a full mask to nasal which I think is easier to sleep on my side but maybe it leaks and I wake up.strange thing is the pressure that I start with 13 doesn't bother me at all actually like it falling to sleep fine staying asleep not so fine

Try going to bed at a more realistic time that would give you even just 5-6 or so hrs of sleep and awaken you at e.g. 7 or 8, vs sleeping at 10 (which may well have been necessary when your sleep was bad pre-diagnosis) that will only lead to too-early awakening. Your messing with your natural sleep rhythms but need to realize that once on Cpap (however unsettled it may yet be) your system just doesn't need as much sleep as you used to. You still have to deal with unwanted awakenings, but if you at least set more 'normal' sleep times it might help.

Do you take any meds of any kind? If so, what?

Sleep maintenance insomnia (that's where you wake up often during the night or wake up and can't go back to sleep) can be caused by a multitude of things ...some we can maybe figure out and some we can't.

Let's get a look at those software reports to see if anything stands out in there.
Meds...let's check them out if you take any.
Have you taken a hard look at your overall sleep hygiene? Are you guilty of any of the bad habits?
If you have no idea what I am talking about...google "sleep hygiene" and start reading.
Is this waking up something that just started with cpap use or did you have this problem before starting on cpap?

Lisinopril is known to 'create' coughs when you don't need them... if you still feel the need of a similar med, I'd ask your MD about it (and go for one that doesn't keep you awake or too asleep. The swing shift thing is terrible - even people not on Cpap or with OSA have trouble adjusting and if there's any chance at all to switch even temp. to a more consistent, if not ll-7 sleep arrangement, I'd talk about it with HR or whoever's appropriate because it's important for you to stay healthy.

From a quick look at the side effects for those meds I didn't see anything that pointed to those meds causing problems sleeping.

Let's see what the software reports show once you get SleepyHead up and running.

I am taking a small dose (5mg) of Zolpidem (generic Ambien) sleep tablet to help me fall and maintain sleep.
