I've just changed the nose piece on my Dreamwear. The other old one didn't appear to be worn out after 6 months but just recently my leak rate has increased and so have my large leak rates which were at zero. I could immediately feel the difference in the way the new nasal piece covered my nose and had no large leaks at all last night.
I find that the backstrap is only a minor player in keeping the nose piece in place. I just make sure it's not too tight. Adjusting the position of the silicone headstrap seems to determine what pressure is place on my nose. Too much pressure equals some pain and also, I believe, a less effective mask. I move mine slightly forward on my scalp.
DreamWear Problem
Re: DreamWear Problem
For the mouth breathing I use chin up strips to keep my mouth shut. It works! Here's the link.davidb01 wrote:I'll be going back to my DreamWear and just teaching myself to keep my mouth closed (great tips - thanks!). As I mentioned above, I first tried and Amara View - hated it! Uncomfortable as anything! So then tried a Resmed F10.... only way I could get it to stop leaking was to pull it tight and then it felt hard on my cheeks (and also made it feel claustrophobic). Also - my AHI for the night was 3.9 with a couple of central apneas! With the dreamwear my AHI is consistently under 1 (even with the leaks) and I never have centrals! So - I'll be getting my Dreamwear back from my sleep clinic and be training myself to keep my mouth closed!
