If each battery has the ring to connector cable then the switch only takes a second. You just have to resist the evil temptation to connect the batteries together. (Actually the cables from BT have a fuse built in.)

Loki is correct. Each battery has ring connectors bolted to the lugs, then a short cable that terminates in one of those offset can't-get-it-wrong 12V connectors. My Battery Tender has that same offset connector, so they plug and unplug quick as you please, with no hot wires lying around loose. Same for my CPAP, just plug and unplug.

I prefer the Anderson Powerpole connectors over the trailer plug, unless I need something weatherproof right out of the box.
