ResMed S9 Autoset for sale

Post by kongjie » Wed May 25, 2016 11:06 pm

Nicely maintained Resmed S9 machine for sale. Includes carrying case, plugs and brick, humidifier unit. Used in a home with no pets, no smokers, and no strong fragrances (my wife can't bear anything like detergents, fabric softeners, perfume, etc.).

Does not include the SD card, hose, or the replaceable humidifier chamber.

The unit works absolutely fine, but it has seen many months of use--over 13,000 hours, in fact.

Just got a new unit and don't have the space to keep this one around as backup. Please message me if interested.

A machine with that many hours on it doesn't have a lot of value. The hours equate to about 4.5 years of use and the typical lifespan of a cpap is considered to be 5 years.

To get an idea of value, take a look at secondwindcpap.com. The machines there have low hours on them and come with a warranty so your machine would be worth quite a bit less than the prices you see there.

I would strongly urge you to keep it as a backup machine. Machines fail all the time and it can hold you over while your main machine is repaired or replaced, which can take a surprisingly long amount of time and can involve dealing with insurance, shipping, etc.

I too would advise keeping it for backup and/or travel.

Well, I guess I'll keep it as a backup. I wasn't getting rid of it for the money--I simply don't have a lot of room for extra stuff in my overpriced and tiny Silicon Valley rental.

I understand - I'm also in Silicon Valley. But a backup cpap is well worth the relatively small amount of space it requires. You can tuck it almost anywhere. Seal it in a plastic bag and stick it under the bed or at the bottom of a coat closet. If your main machine has a problem, you will be glad that you have it. I always advise keeping one backup of each component of a cpap system - a machine, mask, and hose by storing one of each as you replace them with a new one.

Well played kongjie.
Case in point: After a few years with my original CPAP, I impulsively bought a backup unit cheap here at CPAPtalk - within ONE month I ended up having to use the backup while my original CPAP was in for repairs at Accurate. Maybe lucky stars but nobody knows the future.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

My machine is still under warranty and I can take it in to my DME and exchange it if anything happens to it. I have already purchased a backup machine in case mine fails on a weekend when they are closed. I keep one spare of all of my equipment in case of failure, mask tear, hose puncture, etc.
