New bipap recommendation needed
New bipap recommendation needed
My old PR sys 1 is acting up, don't think it is worth trying to fix, and my insurance will cover a new one. Does anyone have a recommendation for a new bipap? Hopefully something with decent softwear or that is compatible with sleepyhead. I was looking at the new PR dream station, but the app looks pretty useless. Any help appreciated! Thanks , Kathy

Re: New bipap recommendation needed
Kathy, the new Dreamstation BiPAP auto and BiPAP Pro both work with the most recent release of Sleepyhead, as does Resmed Aircurve 10 Vauto. Don't worry about software with any of these machines. The availability of Dreamstation BiPAPs has been kind of limited, at least it was a couple months ago. If you're after a Philips machine, I would just talk to your supplier and see what they are currently distributing. I'm sure some are still selling PRS1 60 series.

Thanks, Sleeprider, I have been out of the loop for a while, looks like I have good choices.

How old is it and which series? Is it a 50 or 60 series? And could you define "acting up"?mayondair wrote:My old PR sys 1 is acting up, don't think it is worth trying to fix, and my insurance will cover a new one. The reason I'm asking these questions is that there are a couple of "fixes" that can be or have done by the users. They involve the 50 Series machines. One has to do with adding a screw and the other has to do with a wiring connector that gets overheated.
Nothing wrong with trying to get a new one, but the current one may be fixable to use as a backup.

the sixty series suffers from the wiring fault too.Wulfman... wrote:The reason I'm asking these questions is that there are a couple of "fixes" that can be or have done by the users. It's a 50 series auto bipap , it occasionally turns itself off and I get the needs service screen, if I unplug it will start again, though it is slow to start and gives me a lot of beeps first.. Unfortunately, I am not handy with electronic things Fortunately, my Insurance completely covers a new one . I do have an old autopap I can use as a back up, i dont like the auto as well but it will do in a pinch. So, If anyone wants to fool with it , it will be free to a good home when I get a replacement. Thanks all ! kathy
