OT: Oldest CPAP user here

64 in their 70's
9 in their 80's

I hope the decrease in users from their 60's to 70's and 80's is due to a decrease in internet usage, rather than due to passing to the great beyond. Because my good doctor told me I would live a healthy normal life with no OSA induced health issues as long as I was 100% compliant. Hmmm, but then if I meet my family average passing age, I'd pass in my early 70's and probably before I had a chance to participate in another exciting poll.

Brian, that piece of paper signed by Harry Truman and thus recognizing the new state of Israel is in Truman's library near you. I was age 19 at that time fighting there.

I am 86, and I have used CPAP for 29 years starting in 1987. My first machine was a very basic Healthdyne CPAP (Predecessor of what is now Respironics). To my knowledge there were no BiPAP, APAP, etc. etc back then. My Machine had no electronics and not even a run-time meter. But, it relieved my symptoms and worked flawlessly.. I still have it and use it to dry my hose and mask after washing out.

I think my mom is a real contender for oldest user. She is 88, and has been a "hose head" for over 2 years. Unfortunately, her therapy is not effective, despite diligent use of her BiPaP. She doesn't post for herself, since she doesn't have internet capabilities. I appreciate the help from Robysue and others who are still trying to make BiPap work and solve the complicated issues mom has.

My husband is 90 years old and I am 87. We have both been on bipap for almost ten years. I follow the forum and try to learn enough to keep our machines fine tuned. Thanks to Pugsy and many others we are doing well.

I am 77. I have used cpap for 14 (coming up 15) years. My first machine was a Respironics Pro. I still have it and it still works. I have never used any machine but Respironics. I have used a number of these machines over the years and am currently using the Respironics Remstar Auto 60 series. I've never missed a night! My blood pressure is right on normal. I have no heart issues. Apart from my arthritis, I am very healthy. A lot of that can be attributed to diligent cpap use!

Wow! I've never seen that document, I probably should check out that library and am a bit ashamed to admit I haven't been to that library my whole adult life.
I remember going there in 1973 to celebrate Harry's birthday but I don't remember much about it.

First machine was a brick of course and after finding CPAP-Talk and reading wisdom from Pugsy, Robesue and a few more knowledgeable posters, I dumped Lincare and Medicare's restrictions and started buying every thing I needed, as I needed it from CPAP.com. I think I am now on my 4th or 5th machine, a Airsense 10 Autoset, use Sleepy Head to track progress and am doing very well.
Thank you CPAP.com and CPAPTALK.com. This combo can't be beat....

I think it was pretty clear: the subject did not imply a single question, the body clearly listed the two questions I had; I did not want to make it a poll since some users here seem to be allergic to those. I simply wanted to get an idea of 1) how age and 2) prolonged use impact CPAP patients. Obviously, this is not an epidemiological study, but still, it gives us some idea; and - hope, as evidenced by several appreciative posts.

Thank you to those who answered my questions, and may you have many more years of happy CPAP-supported lives!
