S9 AutoSet with Humidifier goes into Cooling mode.

Post by Windsurfing_Steve » Sat May 14, 2016 2:28 pm

Hello everyone. I put my ResMed S9 AutoSet into Warming mode before I go to bed at night. If I remove the nasal pillow for any reason during the night, the machine automatically goes into cooling mode. Does anyone know whether there is a way to keep the machine in Warming mode? I wish it would default to warming mode. If I don't keep it in Warming mode, my sinuses dry out, and I don't make it through the night.

It probably thinks you've lost your mask and is switching off - that triggers cooling mode automatically.

Yes, I think the machine thinks I have lost the pillows, and it starts cooling and shuts down. Is there way to delay that, so it doesn't start cooling and shutdown if it isn't in use for something like five minutes? Or could it be set to automatically start warming once you put the mask or pillows back on again?

as soon as you put the mask back on, it starts heating again. whether you use the warmup or not.

Thank you for the information. I will follow up on that. It sure seems dry if don't hold the round button down until it says, "Warming up", again.

You shouldn't have to touch any buttons if you have it programmed to auto-start. Just strap on, take a few breaths and the machine starts back up, and the humidifier begins to heat.

I used the warm function for the first couple of weeks,
but not in the six years since then.
I could not tell the difference.

Thank you, everyone, for your replies. They were very helpful. I tested it last night by not pushing the control knob to begin warming, and then I felt the plate under the reservoir in the middle of the night. It was warm. I guess my sinuses are just sensitive. The ENT doctor says I have "CPAP Rhinitis ".

When it automatically switches to cooling mode, you can reset it to warming mode the same way you do it before you 1st put on the mask for the night.

Hold the button down for 3 seconds to revert it to warming mode when it has switched to cooling mode.

You can toggle this back & forth (warming to cooling or cooling to warming) as often as you wish.

Just as when you 1st set it to pre-warm, if you do not start the machine again within X Minutes, it will automatically turn itself off.

What are you going to do about the CPAP Rhinitis?
