Newbie question: exhaust hacks?

Post by Mwe » Sat May 14, 2016 7:12 pm

What a great forum! Thanks all of you for being here.

Can anyone offer me advice on deflecting the exhaust somehow so that it doesn't annoy my husband? He's being cute about it now...says I'm "blowing in his ear," but considering how it feels when it hits my arm or blows in my eyes, it can't be pleasant for him.

I am on day 4 with my machine, and am adjusting pretty well. I have read a lot here and elsewhere, but haven't found advice on this issue. Thanks in advance!

Mwe

P.S. I thought I set up my profile to list my equipment, but just in case...I have a Resmed Airsense 10 and a Resmed full face mask.

do fix your profile, it's not working, it'll save you having to repeat over and over what you've got.

since there are *MANY* different resmed masks, and they're different, I'll just say that some newer masks have a bit of course filter material over the vent holes (like the standard, not hypoallergenic filter on your air10).

you might see about using a spare filter and affixing it over the vent holes in some fashion, just don't block the vent.

and ignore the mike1953 unhelpfulness.

Thx. It's a Quattro fx. Didn't see the designation on the mask when I first posted. No filter, just holes aimed at about a 45 degree angle upwards.

And maybe you might just get used to having a small pillow or something similar between you... I doubt if your marriage will suffer much.

The small pillow is a good idea. I was trying to pull the sheet up, but it blows the air back into my eyes. A pillow could be farther away from me.

My husband dug an old receiving blanket out of the closet and keeps it folded up between our pillows on the bed. If my exhaust ends up annoying him during the night, he just covers up his shoulder (or whatever part is getting hit) with the receiving blanket.

My current mask has eliminated the need to block exhaust, but with my old one it was a problem. If I wanted to sleep facing my wife I would use a balled-up t-shirt as a deflector. The AirFit P10 mask has tiny exhaust holes that are amazing. I never feel or hear the air anymore. I hope Resmed can put the same technology to use on other masks.
