CPAP on the fritz :(
Hello, Im Corey and I just joined here this morning. 3:30am. Unfortunately my CPAP decided to wake me up an hour ago beep beep beeping like crazy and now it says Service Required on the screen and my pressure button wont stop blinking. I called the ppl and theyr gnna check my warranty in the morning and see if Im under the 2 years (I doubt it), if not Ill be referred to a repairs place outside of town. Hopefully my insurance will cover it, cus I sure cant afford to pay out of pocket. SO I just thought Id say hello and wish everyone a good morning and thanks for having me! #CPAP4Life #NeverSleepWithoutIt #ApneaIssues

Welcome, Corey ... If you look at the bottom of the blower unit (take the water tank out of the humidifier first). You will see a REF ### ... is the middle digit a 5 or 6 ?
this will tell which machine you have . Then we may be able to give advice.

If you're not part of the solution you're just scumming up the bottom of the beaker!

I have a Respironics machine that flashed the same warning recently while I was on a trip. On a whim I removed the memory card and the unit suddenly worked fine.

If it really comes down to a repair, try these folks:
http://www.acbio.com
I've used them and so have lots of others here at CPAPtalk.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

As grayghost said, we need to know if it's a REF 550 or REF 560. The 550 is famous for a similar sounding problem caused by a screw they removed holding down the circuit board and if this is the case, you can easily fix it yourself. There are at least a couple of threads on this forum showing how to do it - with pictures. If it's a model 560, then it's some other problem.

uh, it wasn't "a screw they removed"... it's just the design of the machine.yaconsult wrote:As grayghost said, we need to know if it's a REF 550 or REF 560. you can't "remove" something in an earlier model that exists in a later model.

Re: CPAP on the fritz :(
They way to tell is some company with the service software to look at the error codes. It could be a simple software update, queue full; actually anything.

Also;

That being said: The 'hole' for the screw was built into the PC board but ultimately no screw was inserted when the machine went into final assembly! Just guessing but, the board designers (probably based in Japan etc) told PR there needs to be a screw in this middle hole of this large PC board to stabilize it, especially since there are pressure sensors from the air manifold mounted right on the board. The PR folks probably said "Nah, we are going to save three cents per board by leaving that screw out." That snafu cost PR a lot of money plus a ding in their reputation.palerider wrote:uh, it wasn't "a screw they removed"... it's just the design of the machine.

having been inside a couple respironics machines, and a few resmeds, I'm not impressed by the engineering quality of respironics.... nup.
