turning pressure down

Post by slimey42 » Wed Apr 27, 2016 7:33 pm

is it possible to access the setup menu of my machine to turn the pressure down?

it's too. darn. high.

I can't get a mask to fit for any length of time. the pressure blows it off my face. leaks galore. if i tighten it enough to stop that, it's pushing down into my face and it hurts. I've tried three different FF masks - not a single one is leak free. I've tried comfort gel, the new airfit and another one with a forehead brace. I have a very small but round face, so the medium size ones fit best around my mouth, but the nose bridge is up above my eyes. The small fits better, but still leaks like mad around my eyes, all night.

The only mask I've been able to tolerate is the swift fx nasal pillow mask.. but with the new pressures, I have to tape my mouth shut and wear a chin strap... and still I wake up with such a dry mouth I think the air is leaking out from under the tape.

so I ordered a hybrid mask thinking hey maybe a perfect solution! Nasal pillow + over mouth.... nope. leak leak leak leak LEAK. tighten it so it stops leaking around my mouth, but then that pushes the nose part out of my nose. I'm so frustrated. I know I'm whining

I just.. want to turn the dumb thing down. I don't even care if technically the pressure is too low...it would still be higher than it was before. Do I have to go back to the Dr. to do this or is it possible to get into the system settings to do it myself?

edit: just realized the sig line doesn't show the machine. it's a resmed s9 vpap copd

You will find your Clinician. manual here:
keep following the links and then Scroll down to Section Three your machine is there just follow instructions and they will email it to you.

I would suggest you look at some data before you mess with the pressure. You can post some shots, here is how.

This will help...step by step To Organize Graphs, To Take Screan Shots, and Post to Imgur and post them here to Cpaptalk:

When posting Daily Detailed Data, the most important things to include in the screenshot are:

1) The Left Sidebar with all the summary data.
(Turn off the Pie Chart so that we can see the statistical data for the leak rate and the pressure. .....To turn the Pie Chart off: Click on File- Preferences- Appearance then uncheck Show event breakdown pie chart. ALSO: Turn off the right sidebar. To do this: Click on view then uncheck the Right sidebar. )
2) The event table at the top if the graphs.
3) The flow rate graph
4) The pressure graph when you use Auto
5) The leak graph
6) Flow Limitation graph - Myself, I like to see this one. But don't squish the graphs so much that the scale on the left of the graph is useless....

I too had a real hard time with leaks, and I use a Swift FX. I tape and use a soft cervical collar to stop leaks.

Good Luck
