I've found one patient experiencing something similar to me

"Actually, there are benefits to some people who have advanced lung disease. These people have a difficult time breathing on their own, and the CPAP is a step between suffocation and a ventilator. I have advanced lung disease, and I sometimes use the CPAP while awake in conjunction with my oxygen to help rest my lungs during the day.

If you only suffer from sleep apnea, the CPAP is designed for use while sleeping. If you are like me, the CPAP is used during sleep and awake periods and has been a life saver and a life extender. Good luck and it will help you immeasurably." https://answers.yahoo.com/question/inde ... 124AAN1MqR, by user Barry M.

which advanced lung disease do you have? it makes a difference which machine, and what settings are recommended.

I don't know yet, to find out with my doctors. They have already found a light asthma effect with my lung, and I'm using Symbicort Turbuhale 400/12

PS: Last night and the night before working with CPAP on were great, my productivity was boosted. I just ignore the doctors' unwillingness to let me using the CPAP while being awake now

Maybe there is something to the desire to use CPAP while working...

This article says that breath-holding was observed when people composed e-mail messages. But under conscious control breathing wouldn't be improved with CPAP.

I tend to be a shallow breather, especially when I am concentrating on something. The CPAP pressure might be just enough of a reminder to my body to breather more deeply. Maybe it is something like that?

Regardless, I'd be pressing my doctor to make some more in-depth investigations. A day time oximetry test seems like a good first step

i'll read that bulletproof guy, but I also heard Modafinil (Provigil) or Armodafinil (Nuvigil) are great ? (source: http://www.sleep-apnea-guide.com/still- ... wrong.html )
My personal opinion is that we are always better off finding the underlying cause of our symptoms than treating the symptoms with drugs that bring other side effects and problems.

Probably shallow breathing happens to me as well. I've talked to my doctor. My determination has convinced him: he accept my using the CPAP while working.

It was me who asked the doctors to increase the pressure to 8, it was me to turn off the C-Flex function because it decreased the needed pressure of 8 cm. Now looking at my compatibility with the CPAP (all green result), he has to agree with me.

Hey ja, in Holland you have to lead your doctors, because they are incompetent.
