So night 2 in the books. I feel amazing. Problem is the number of major leaks and the nasal mask is tearing up the bridge of my nose. I have a large, long nose so there is no preventing the pressure on the bridge of my nose. I experimented with loosening the mask, but couldn't get a good seal. Slept with it just tight enough to seal and still wrecked my nose.
I know it is early (only 2 nights with treatment), but I really think that a nasal pillows mask would be the way to go. Any recommendations for the one most likely to work well and be the most comfortable?
Where should I buy it for the best price? The VA pays for my setup, but I don't think they will take the cost for new mask. Money is not an issue, buy I would prefer to not pay more than I have to. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Re: Mask recommendation
I, too have a rather large nose. I had a hard time finding a full face mask (I am a mouth breather) that did not make my nose sore. I finally started using a large Amara View mask, and it works great for me. The mask fits around the mouth and mostly under the nose. The mask comes across the very lower part of the nose. If you are not a mouth breather, you may want to consider nasal pillows. I would like to use them, but as I stated earlier, I am a mouth breather. I could use the VA system, but I prefer to use medicare and tricare for life. I get more choices this way.

If you are OK with a nasal mask, nasal pillows are the way to go--nothing on the top of your nose. However, take a good look at your nares--it is sometimes hard to fit nasal pillows if you have long, thin nares (called "slotted nares"). Nasal pillows work best on somewhat rounded nares.
I'm using a newer mask called the DreamWear. I don't know how it would be if you have elongated nares, but it may be much better than nasal pillows. It's a great mask. You can go on the Respironics Website and see it, and more importantly you can print out a fitting guide with a little form you hold up to your nose and see if there's going to be a size that might work for you. The DreamWear has a wide slot the air comes into and the mask sits up against the nares. There's nothing touching the bridge of the nose. The hose attaches at the top. It's a great mask, if it works for you.

Re: Mask recommendation
Masks are the most important part I think to the comfort part of the cpap process, when you have a mask that works you will stay with it and deal with its little issues.
The mask I like the most p10 and swift FX pillow style.( I have used nasal masks that cover the nose and went back to the pillow style for comfort.)

Most DME's honour the manufacturers 30 return policy. In other words if you got the mask at a DME you should be able to walk back in and exchange it for another mask.

I found the pillows leave my nostrils sore with the proper tightness. I do love the Swift X nano.
