Yes the S9 is older model however the Airsense came out the same time as the Aircurve models. Both are part of the s10 gen lineup and considered the latest models. The Airsense is what Resmed named their Cpap line up and Aircurve for their Bipap line up. That is how you can tell which is which instantly just by the name. That is why Aircurve costs more not because Airsense are older but because they are only Cpap machines unlike the Aircurve which are all Bipaps.

1) S10 is a pickup, if you look on the bottom of the machines, they say "Air10".Drowsyhead wrote:Yes the S9 is older model however the Airsense came out the same time as the Aircurve models. 2) Bipap is a registered marketing trademark of respironics, the proper term is "bilevel".

Thank you very much I just ordered and picked up my S9 AutoSet CPAP Machine with H5i Heated Humidifier for Her and saved 315 bucks.Thatgirl wrote:Sorry, I guess I wasn't reading very closely. Unless you get the white Airsense 10 For Her Autoset, the Airsense 10 Autoset is functionally the same as the S9 Autoset- just cosmetically different and some minor differences (cellular modem for the worthless MyAir, integrated humidifier instead of separate). The pink S9 for Her is EXACTLY the same as the silver S9 Autoset and is currently over $300 cheaper on CPAP.com. So that's the way I would go. Just because you're self pay on the machine, doesn't mean you can't get mask and hoses and filters through insurance and start working your deductible down. The price difference will be less dramatic with that stuff, and then you'll have made progress on your deductible for when you have other medical expenses come up this year.CrazyCarl wrote:They are in the original post but what I'm looking at is PR System One REMStar 60 Series Auto with Bluetooth, AirSense 10 AutoSet, or the S9 AutoSet CPAP.Thatgirl wrote:What 3 are you considering? Re: Need to buy CPAP machine
To be honest it doesn't bother me at all but if it ever does I can pickup a skin from skinit for like 30 bucks. So save 315 and then cover it for 30 if it's not liked, sounds like a deal to me. I can open up a new thread if I need to but since this is an auto I am curious what high and low I should set if my prescription is for 14.palerider wrote:good for you, not being afraid of a little pink colorCrazyCarl wrote:Thank you very much I just ordered and picked up my S9 AutoSet CPAP Machine with H5i Heated Humidifier for Her and saved 315 bucks.

if you're used to 14, I'd start with min 13, max 20, and see what happens. if 14 is a good number, or close, then you may get some fluctuations at 13, but the pressure shouldn't go up very far, if it does, it's worth finding out why.

Re: Need to buy CPAP machine
So I used it for the first time last night so i'm not used to anything yet really. I slept from 9am-2pm when I woke up and realized I had taken off the mask at 11:30 and put it back on from 3-6. I also realized this morning that I didn't turn on the setting that makes it easier to breath out, ERP I think it was called. So 13 to 20 should be safe to set?palerider wrote:I skinned my silver one:CrazyCarl wrote:To be honest it doesn't bother me at all but if it ever does I can pickup a skin from skinit for like 30 bucks. Also nice to see how the skins look, might have to decide on what I want one mine and order one. Yours looks really good.
Re: Need to buy CPAP machine
there's almost nothing you can do with an autoset that isn't safe.... maybe not comfortable or optimal, but it's all pretty darn safe.CrazyCarl wrote:So 13 to 20 should be safe to set?
here's what it looks like, not wrapped around a cpap:CrazyCarl wrote:Also nice to see how the skins look, might have to decide on what I want one mine and order one. Yours looks really good.

Re: Need to buy CPAP machine
I'm glad you decided on the pink S9 - it's a great machine, especially at that price.CrazyCarl wrote:...went to go pickup my CPAP machine. Found out that I will have to pay $500 dollar deductible on top of the monthly rental fee. So after doing some research online it's much cheaper for me to just by a machine online myself. ...
With that said: I tend to assume that I'll use medical services sometime over the course of the year, so choosing to not pay a deductible in March or April is just pushing it off 'til May or June. Indeed, I budget for the deductible as part of my annual insurance+medical cost, and I don't pay much attention to which charges get applied toward it.
This does make the assumption that the insurance doesn't have some special DME deductible - that cost for a CPAP hits the same deductible as, e.g. Xrays and lab work. Depending on your copays and insurance allowed amounts for CPAP rental & purchase, it might still make economic sense for you to skip insurance and buy a CPAP outright, but I would redo the economic analysis figuring that if I don't pay the deductible for the CPAP, I will pay it for some other medical service later, anyway.
