I'll try to get the Dreamwear mask. It seems many people go through multiple masks.

No, I'm not the actor. He never went by "Jim" and I'm alive. We are distantly related, very distantly.

My Grandmother was diagnosed with "myalgia" in the 1940's. They added "fibro" later I guess.

I can attest to the fact that I have something and it isn't a made up disease.

I believe it really comes down to a chemical imbalance in the nervous system. They don't seem to have a test for that, but that doesn't make it "made up".

My Grandmother told me that when she was a girl (about 1900) women who felt weak would make tea from specially prepared water. It was not spoken about, it was not science. The water was prepared by soaking nails in it.

It was ridiculed by medical science until iron was determined to be an essential nutrient - and rust was a way to deliver it. Duh....

Some old wives tale = medical stupidity.

I was once diagnosed with serious depression. I would feel terrible for no apparent reason. They tired 4 antidepressants. Nothing worked until I went on a low carb diet and it went away - for the most part.

Finally by process of elimination we found the cause was a preservative (potassium sorbate, sorbic acid, poly sorbate) and what it did was to cause my diastolic blood pressure to jump up for about 45 minutes and return to normal. But I'd feel awful for hours after. My blood pressure was about 120 over 110. Blood flow was lessened, crap built up and nutrients/oxygen weren't delivered properly. We only found it because I had an attack 5 minutes from my Doctor's office one day.

I wonder how many people have committed suicide from sorbate allergy that "doesn't exist" because it is so rare. I considered it at the time. I was sick as hell much of the time and they told me it was all in my head.

On the show "House" he once said idiopathic diseases were called that because the doctor was the idiot. Medical science doesn't know everything. An intensivist (ICU doctor) I met told me there a cases every day where they don't know the cause but they cannot say "Duh, I dunno". He was not surprised with my problem.

I'll add that I have something that makes me hurt everywhere all the time. Call it what you wish.

This came on a couple of years after the sorbate thing was dealt with by diet. It may be related to a catastrophic motorcycle accident. I had a severe concussion, 24 fractures and 7 operations since then. My Doctor told me to get used to pain meds, because there is no cure. I have managed to get by on Tramadol, the least powerful pill that allows me to sleep. Otherwise the pain is unbearable.

I am seeing a holistic doctor in the hope that he'll find a solution, but so far nothing.

As one person said, if you don't have FM, good for you. It is like the volume and squelch knobs on a police scanner are both turned the wrong way.

FM lowers the threshold for pain, and raises the volume. What does hurt, hurts more and what shouldn't hurt, does. You literally cannot lie down comfortably.

Fibromyalgia has been known for years to come on following (often by quite some time) some accidental injuries (though not all and not one particular type). It is also diagnosed specifically by identifying a series of trigger points. It is not a chemical imbalance. It is not due to stress. It is not being sore after exercise. It is not all in your head unless you personally decide you have it without having been diagnosed by a qualified doctor. But the doctor must be qualified and know the specifics of what it is. And isn't - which would be random pain or discomfort here and there when you feel down. The specific criteria are necessary for a valid diagnosis.

I have had fibromyalgia since at least 1990. The only mask I can tolerate are nasal pillows. The head gear is Res Med and has 2 thin elastic straps. One goes over the top of your head and the other goes around the back of your head. It is not adjustable and isn't tight. The part that rests on your face is a cloth covered platic material and is comfortable. The nasal pillows are ResMed Air Fit pillow part # 62932. I wear a size medium. You should change to a different DME company. Your insurance shoukd pay for 2 sets of nasal pillows a month. They are one piece. .I have never had any face pain using these. The nasal pillows fit slightly in your nostrils. I use lanolin ointment (the kind breastfeeding mothers use when nursing) I put just a little on the lower part of my nostrils before putting on my nasal pillows. Be careful not to use to much or the pillows won't stay in place. You can wipe off any excess if needed. The next day I actually put a little more on using a cotton swab if my nostrils get tender. Good luck.
