First Week of SleepyHead Data

Post by bcab17 » Sat Apr 09, 2016 1:46 pm

For my first experience with SleepHead, I find that I really don't understand a lot of the data. Below are stats of the averages for the past week:

CPAP Usage
Average Hours per Night: 07:29
Therapy Efficacy
AHI: 0.31
Obstructive Index: 0.28
Hypopnea Index : 0.09
Clear Airway Index: 0.00
RERA Index: 0.11
Leak Statistics
Average Leak Rate: 1.38
90% Leak Rate: 3.60
% of time above Leak Rate threshold: 0.03%
Pressure Statistics
Average Pressure: 10.24
Min Pressure: 8.00
Max Pressure: 14.44
90% Pressure: 12.34
Average EPAP: 8.24
Min EPAP: 6.00
Max EPAP: 12.44

In the "Daily" tab, the event breakdown pie chart is dramatically different from night to night, and I'm not sure what it means. For example:
One Night - pie chart is completely blue (Obstructive: 0.17, all other categories are 0).
Another Night - pie cart is completely yellow (RERA: 0.12, all other categories are 0).
Other Nights - pie chart is generally split into two sections (Obstructive: 0.54, RERA: 0.27) or (Obstructive: 0.27, Hypopnea: 0.13)

I sure appreciate some help in trying to understand what all this means...and honestly, if I really need to know what all this means.

You look to be doing great - everything on track... but you could also do a little research to learn more in general. Go to the lightbulb at the top of the page here and start reading (go to links, etc.), plus other forum notes. What parts do you understand, and which ones don't you?

what it means is that your sleep varies from night to night.

Your numbers look good, but I would suggest increasing your minimum a bit.......maybe working it up to about 10 and see what happens. The closer it is to where it needs to be will help prevent it from bouncing around too much during the night.

Thanks Den. Would it make sense to up the minimum pressure to 8.5 or is 9.0 be a better choice?

Sure. Move it up gradually and see what works and how well it works. From your data, you're actually going up higher than those numbers during the night, but sometimes it's easier to work up the minimum a little at a time. Whatever you're comfortable with.
Typically, I've often seen the more "effective" pressure somewhere between the "average" and the "90%/95%" numbers.

So, if you keep increasing your pressure and the numbers get better, you know you're going in the right direction.
Don't forget........"How you feel" is very important when tweaking the settings, too.
If people are getting bumped out of their needed sleep stages and into lighter ones may have GREAT numbers, but they can feel unrested in the long run because they're spending too much time in lighter sleep stages.

That makes sense because my numbers may look ok, but there have been days after a solid 7.5 to 8 hour sleep that I have not felt "rested".
