Newbie Humidification Qeustion

Post by exersize_freak » Thu Mar 31, 2016 1:18 pm

I am a new CPAP users. I have pre-existing sinus issues. I want to turn the humidification up setting 6 of 8 on Resmed. I am loving the humidification with one caveat, I wake up once or twice per night, because the mask is full of condensation. CPAP is at bed level. Call home health company wanting to buy a heated hose. They told me that that is not the way to go. I should either do one of 2 things, turn off the humidifier or put the CPAP on the floor. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Thanks,
Go to https://www.cpap.com and order the one you need (assuming your existing machine is capable of handling a heated hose).
If your machine is not capable of using one, then you could try some fleece coverings for the hose, or.......setting your machine lower than it is now, using a hose hanger or other adaptations to keep the moisture from getting into your mask.
It's simple physics........the warm humid water vapor comes out of the HH tank, up the cooler hose and condenses back into liquid form.
It's also quite possible you're trying to add more humidity than you actually need. Too much heated humidity can actually contribute to more nasal congestion. Many of us have found that we actually do better with less humidity. I've been using "passover" (water in the tank but no heat) since I started therapy. I can breathe much better with the cool air.

Thanks,
put the cpap lower than the bed so that water can run back down to the humidifier.
