Today I woke up feeling surprised and happy. If any of you use this machine Phillips Auto Dream Station with humidity , you know that the normal filter, which it comes with, is blue plastic, with a little cover over the filer where the air flows through. It's a little more boxed shaped....Not sure how else to describe it.
Yesterday, my provider/company sent me a different filter for the first time. It's thinner (flat), lighter blue in color, and called "ultra thin". So when I put it in my machine last night, it really didn't fit as good but I decided to try it out anyway. If you google "dream station respersonic filter", you can see both online.
My old filter didn't look dirty at all, fit the machine better and was thicker....still looked new and less than a month old. I always rinse it, but I was curious to see the difference.....Which was major. I slept great the whole night.
I felt lots of very cool air with the new thinner filter, no claustrophobic feels the entire night. When I woke up, the air coming through was still very cool and fresh feeling. I can't believe the difference in those 2 little filters. I was so surprised. I felt like it was literally 80% cooler to me. My sinuses felt clearer too. So I felt like I needed to share this info for those looking for cooler air options.

Do you think the smaller filter could have been letting more air in (not filtering as much) since you said it didn't fit as well? Then again, you said your sinuses were clear.
How long had you been using the prior filter before switching?
Never mind; you said less than a month old. That big of a difference with the ultra thin filter? Interesting.

NO, I don't think the new filter was leaking unfiltered air around it. It just didn't fit as tight.
Yes, I was really surprised in the difference. I even checked my thermostate to be sure my room temp was the same. I keep it about 71 and I'm in Denver, so it was cold out last night...I usually still sweat around my face with the full f10 mask, even when its 20 degrees outside.
I did notice the original filter was more like a threaded fiberglass type thicker filter and the new ultra thin was more like a thin fabric or softer material closer to something fabric or paper mixed, and less threaded... I much prefer this new thinner one and I won't go back now. It's giving me some hope that I can do this. Big difference in the air I got last night and I feel more alert right now so far. I usually need a nap in the day time because I'm so sleepy. I'm anxious to see how I feel later and how tonight goes. I will follow up as I try it out further.

Those feelings/results you experienced are probably all in your head but use whatever filter you think works best for you. Happy dreams.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

read your manual, page 5.JustBreath wrote:Today I woke up feeling surprised and happy. you use the regular filter or the regular filter + ultrathin. you do NOT use the ultrathin by itself.

UGHHHH....They didn't give me a manual. The company/provider truely sucks. I've pretty much had to figure it all out on my own. Well, this explains the good air. LOL Thanks, Yall.

I don't mean to call out any providers in particular, but I'm gathering from this forum that the barriers to entry for providers in this market are pretty low...JustBreath wrote:UGHHHH....They didn't give me a manual.
