Thanks for the congestion tips, SACohen! I think the switch will be more comfortable and the congestion thing was really all that was holding me back.
As far as the benzos go... I only have them because of two panic attacks I had over a year ago. It's not something I typically struggle with, but with 2 deaths in the family back to back and my MIL threatening to sue me (it's a long story), it was kind of the perfect storm. So I've really only taken them on two occasions because I don't want to become dependent. I googled it (plus I sleep next to a pharmacist every night ) and an adult using Ativan for insomnia can take 2-4 mg. it's definitely not something I'm going to make a habit of, but I'm just glad I had something on hand. Last night I slept fine without anything extra, so I think I'm getting used to it, thank goodness!
Tomorrow I'm going in to pick out a nasal mask... any advice on what to look for?

My first and second nights were pretty horrendous. Don't expect an immediate adjustment. Give it some time. Thanks my advice. Its worth it when you're finally acclimated and seeing the benefits of a good night's sleep. Good luck, you can do it!!
