SleepyHead Development News

Post by jedimark » Fri Mar 04, 2016 7:12 pm

Hello Guys & Gals,

Good news... SleepyHead v1.0.0 is coming soon!

To help make sure things ready, I've decided to introduce GIT Snapshot builds for SleepyHead testers who are unable to build from source.

These builds are still not official release versions of SleepyHead, they follow development a little more bleeding edge. (I called these UnstableBuilds before.. but who am I kidding... When has any SleepyHead build been completely Stable?)

When one of these versions proves reliable enough, it will be rereleased as the next recommended version.

At the moment, they are just available for Mac.. mainly because I can deploy and upload one with a single shell script. (Windows will have them too soon enough)

You can find them here:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/sleepyh ... Snapshots/

These builds are development snapshots, built straight from GIT, and occasionally might be extra glitchy. Some projects call these Nightlies, but I'll only upload a new one when there is something new to test, and I'm not buried in still-in-progress chunks of work.

Translations will not always be available or up to date in these builds.

I suggest avoiding these if your not a adept at backing SleepyHead data up or moving things around the filesystem. In that case, it would best to wait for an official stable release (coming soon!), as I don't have a lot of time for helping with that stuff.

Running these you also need to be know how to Rebuild CPAP data after there has been file importer changes, or even be prepared to start a fresh profile if something screws up on you. (Which is why backups are important, if you need to roll back a version)

These are only going to be available from SourceForge (sourceforge sucks a bit, but it's mirroring system is excellent and has local mirrors everywhere) so make sure you click on the correct download button if you see those loathesome ads. (If you don't let javascript autostart the correct one that is)

It probably wouldn't be a good idea to link to any these files directly, as having the latest version is important before submitting any bug reports.

Don't forget to drop in and join in sometime on #sleepyhead or ##cpaptalk on Freenode IRC

Sleep well friends,
Jedimark

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

Can't wait, just had to switch to a DreamStation and hope this version will be able to read them as well.

I have been using Sleepyhead for the past three years on a 950 and a 960 ASV machine and love it.

Hope to see it soon.

Rich

I have an ASV card RES MED that you were looking for its only one month old. Need help in zipping and who to send to, email. I use Sleepy Head to read it works okay except the compliance criteria is different. What to say that you have an excellent CPAP program, better then whats available from a sleep study. I switched to ASV on my own and love it. No central, no obstructive just have hyperpnea.

I updated the latest Mac snapshot (1.0.0-beta-1).. Also, changed my first post a bit to lessen the scary :-}

In summary, renamed from UnstableBuilds to Snapshots. It sounds better.

Don't be too afraid of these Snapshots, just remember to backup the folder before trying them..

Once one of these snapshots gets enough positive feedback, and translations are finished, it will become the next "official" version.

** If you have a DreamStation or AirCurve machine, it's perfectly safe to start now with the latest snapshot **.

Most likely.. I'm not familiar with the t model, but it should be a standard family 5 (AutoSV) machine.

If not, it won't take long to be working with a little data.

0.9.8-1 works with the 960, though the snapshot fixes a few minor bugs.

So a "snapshot" is a bata test??

And the latest snapshot is good to go on the new Dreamstation CPAP/APAP systems??

In computer programmer parlance, a "snapshot" is usually when you "take a snapshot" of the current state of the work in progress of the software. e.g. Stop programming, compile your program, and copy the resulting program and other files. Put the snapshot somewhere that the people testing the program can try it out.

Technically a "snapshot" can be the "real, reliable, ready for general use" program, a "beta," and "alpha," or a complete non-working version where you tried to fix a problem and broke everything.

In this case, it sounds like Mark is making sure the snapshot works pretty well before he puts it in the "snapshot" directory where mere mortals can access it.

As for "beta," it's all "beta." Even the old, reliable version that's been around for a year or so is a "beta," and says so in the title bar of the SH window. At this time anything version 1.? of SH is "more beta" than the last 0.9.8 version, in my opinion.

As for DreamStation, yes, the latest snapshot of 1.0.0 beta-1 does do DreamStation.

The snapshots are unlikely to damage your PC or your CPAP machine, but you might lose any data you've already imported into SleepyHead, and have to read the data from the SD card again later. SleepyHead does make backups of your data, but I recommend that you make copies of the whole SD card and keep them on your PC. I recommend this even if you're using a "finished" version of SH.
