CPAP newbie

Post by Tmommy4 » Sat Mar 05, 2016 12:12 pm

Hi!

I'm Lisa, 42 and overweight but actively losing. (28 pounds so far!) I was just diagnosed with sleep apnea this past week. While I did not want this diagnosis, it sure makes a lot of sense!

I have a high deductible, so rather than rent a machine, I bought one online. I should get it on Tuesday. I went with an S9 Autoset and a full face mask. It had a good sale price, plus I liked the reviews. The idea of a full mask sets off a bit of panic, but I know I'm a mouth breather at least part of the time due to my sinuses.

Looking forward to learning some tips here.

Congratulations on the weight loss! I have heard it said that xPAP therapy can help with weight loss also.

Your machine is a solid choice and should serve you well.

Do not get discouraged if your face mask turns out to not be the perfect fit because some people spend years trying to find the magic combination that works just right for them. We are all mouth breathers at first which can sometimes change after adjusting to therapy. We all have our issues and different results but the good news is we now know our enemy and have the tools to do battle!
