ResMed S7 Lightweight - Humidifier

Post by Aikimei » Thu Mar 03, 2016 4:08 pm

The red light on my humidifier heater on stays on momentarily when I turn the knob. Is this what it is suppose to do, or do I have a problem with my machine?

Do you have a problem?

So the light stays on... but does it make any difference to your sleep?

I believe he's asking if that signifies a problem with the machine.

Hopefully someone with experience on that machine can answer.

The S7 Lightweight is at least 11 years old. I have manuals for the S7 series machines but none of them mention what you're describing in the "Troubleshooting" sections.

So, I suggest you contact this place:

http://www.acbio.com

They're a factory-authorized repair facility for Philips/Respironics and ResMed equipment.
They're also a member of this forum under the name "Accurate" and are highly thought of here.

But, I can't answer your questions because your description isn't mentioned in the manuals.....either as a normal or not normal condition. Otherwise, if it seems to be working, it may be "normal" and if it isn't working, it may have a problem.

Guess I just didn't see "momentarily" as a problem.

since I don't know anything about how those machines normally operate, to me a red light that comes on for a moment would make me wonder "why's it doing that? is that an error indication of some kind? does it mean something is breaking/broken/needs repair?"

That's an old model, any chance you can get an upgrade through insurance. It sounds like it has served you well. I don't know the expected life of the Machine.

Actually, I got the impression that this person has just acquired the machine (maybe on the used market) and doesn't know how it's supposed to work. If a person has been using a machine for any amount of time, they should be familiar with what happens when you push buttons and turn knobs.
Some people buy these devices off of Craig's List and from private individuals and don't have insurance to help them out.
