AirFit N10 Slight Leak (Phantom Leak?) Into Eyes

Post by TimeToSleep » Thu Mar 03, 2016 8:01 am

In the last few days I've started to feel some tiny leaks from my AirFit N10 into my eyes. Software says my leak numbers are good so this seems to be mainly a comfort issue:

But I wake up with "tired eyes" from the air blowing into them. I tried several nasal masks at my fitting and the N10 was the only one that we could get to not leak into my eyes at all...except now it's leaking.

I gave it a good wash on Sunday. I wondered if I damaged it or something, but actually Sunday night was great. It's Monday and Tuesday night that I had eye leaks.

I'm wondering if I'm simply wearing it a bit too high on my nose?

Here's what I've tried:
  • Readjusting Headgear
  • Wiping the cushion to try and clear any oils etc. from it
  • Lift mask from nose and place back on nose with air running
Searching around this AM, here's what I've yet to try:
  • Wiggling nose around with mask on
  • Run finger around seal
I can also head back to my DME and have them help me with it but I thought I'd give it one more go before I make the drive.

FWIW I always clean my face right before bed.

Other Suggestions?

Try not to get too high on the bridge of your nose when putting on mask. I had issue because my nose shape and this was a big issue. Also do not try to get too "tight to fix the leaks". This just prevents the mask from inflating properly and making seal.

Ok did this:

Put mask on BEFORE turning air on
Put mask lower on nose

Seemed to get it under control. Slightly lower AHI today and didn't feel leaks last night.
