Resmed S9 autoset problems

Post by rakkwhite » Wed Mar 02, 2016 11:25 am

I've had my Resmed S9 autoset for two years. The last two nights it has shut off during the night; twice last night and once the night before. It flashes the Resmed logo over and over, and then it takes a very long time to read the sd card. After that it starts blowing air without pressing the "on" button. Has anyone else had this problem? Is my machine toast just after the two year mark? Help!!!

The SD card should be in at all times...S9 should not have to read it. The only time to take the card out would be to transfer the data to your computer via Sleepyhead....... then replace the card. (Maybe I'm not understanding your question)

The sd card is always in it, except when I rarely take it out to look at the data in sleepyhead. When the machine was rebooting last night, it showed the sd card reading message... even though it hasn't been taken out for months.

Sounds like a power issue. If you have a backup S9, swap the power supplies and see if that resolves the problem. If you don't or can't do that, consider using the machine without the humidifier (which uses a lot of power) and see if that affects the issue. Make sure the power brick isn't covered or enclosed, so it doesn't overheat.

I have no specific experience with these machines, hopefully others will chime in if they've seen something similar or if there are specific troubleshooting steps to try.

it reads it when it powers up. I'm guessing a power supply problem, possibly the power brick.

Might be a loose cable ... either at the machine or the power cable to the brick or to the wall.
If you're not part of the solution you're just scumming up the bottom of the beaker!

You didn't have a static spark pass from you to the machine by any chance did'ya ? I totally fried the microprocessor in a fancy, set-back thermostat once by doing that. It became a lovely, $120.00 paperweight afterwards. I hope it's something easily fixed in your case.

You all have given me a good place to start. Since I don't have a backup cpap, I'll buy a new power cord and start with that. In the meantime, I won't use the humidifier and hopefully get a good night's sleep. Thank you all for your help!
