Snoring issues returning

Post by NoSleep4u » Fri Feb 26, 2016 9:20 am

I have been using my S9 in APAP mode for a couple of years now (pressure range set from 4-13). I still don't sleep great, but it has been way better than without the CPAP. Recently, it seems as though my snoring problems have come back. I actually woke myself up snoring this morning while still wearing my mask and sleeping on my back.

We moved to a new home about 5 months ago and noticed that the air is much dryer. I leave my humidity set at 5.5 because if I use it at 6.0, the reservoir will be dry by the time morning comes. We are now using a humidifier in our bedroom, but it still doesn't seem to help.

Anyone have any suggestions? Should I open up the APAP range to 20?

You can guess at what to do. Or, you can use available technology to aid your decisions - https://sleep.tnet.com/resources/sleepyhead

Rather than increasing the max pressure drastically, I'd suggest increasing the minimum pressure.

If you use SleepyHead or ResScan, you should be able to determine what your 95% pressure level is. I'd suggest increasing the min pressure up to within 1 or 2 cm of your 95% pressure.

If that seems too drastic, you might try turning EPR down or off and seeing if that helps with the snoring.

This is a bummer. Does your nose feel drier now than it used to be in the old house?

You might consider where the humidifier is placed in your bedroom. Perhaps if you can place it closer to your CPAP's air in-take, that might help with getting the humidity in the CPAP air up where you want it to be.

I will try and get sleepyhead up and running again. I just can't put it on my work computer and my home computer is an old mac (about to get a new PC in March).
