Insurance Blue Cross Blue Shield

Post by K5MOW » Sun Feb 21, 2016 7:43 am

Good morning everyone

I have Blue Cross Blue Shield just got a new machine. I pay the co-pay per month for rental of the machine. When I first got the machine less than a month ago they told me how many months I would have to pay the co-pay and rental Fee before it got paid off. Unfortunately I forgot how many months they said it would be. Does anyone know the typical time frame for paying off the machine.

Thanks Roger

Mine is 10. I've seen 7, 10, and 12. Could be different by state. Mine is BCBS of Nebraska. By the way, my co-pay is 30%.

Standardly the time period is 10 months rent to own.

That's what mine was and BCBS is my insurance AND my employer.

It should be on the contract you signed with the DME.

I have a flavor of BCBS and mine was 13. You just never know- it's very plan dependent. Call the DME or your insurance.

I would call the insurance company. I don't trust ANYTHING the DME tells me.

Never signed anything because they shipped it directly to me via FedEx. They did send the contract but cannot find that information.
I will call tomorrow.

Thanks for the information.

You'll need to check with the DME and/or Blue Cross Blue Shield. BCBS is a huge conglomerate of companies and plans. In some cases, such as the BCBS plan I am on, BCBS is just administrating an insurance plan that is wholly and totally self-funded by the (very large) corporation that I work for. The policies on these BCBS plans are a mixture of legal requirements, Blue Cross Blue Shield requirements, and policy decisions that my company has made for our policy. In my case, I am able to have the machine purchased outright upon delivery.

Only your insurance company will give you the straight poop.
{{{getting it in writing}}}
The DME may just try to feed you the other stuff.
